I am really confused. This seems like Amazon being (wilfully?) blind to people using their platform for copyright infringement against book publishers. Do book publishers have ~zero clout? If CDs were still common, would Amazon be just as passive if this were happening to music?
It seems that misoprostol's durability in pill form depends on the pills being sealed (see https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0238628). I'm worried that the rate at which misoprostol "disappears" (not sure what is the mechanism) from the card will be _way_ faster. I'm surprised that the cards don't seem to include date of manufacture.

To make it even more funnily complicated, it's context-dependent for some people (I am biased towards COI, but I am more biased in that direction when the reason for the conversation is to explain something to me, and less (or maybe even away) when the point of the conversation is for me to explain something.)

@feditips You could also give them a URL, right? If I paste "https://mstdn.social/@feditips" in the search box, I likewise end up on your profile page.
software, privacy, control, Android, --
@moonbolt I think Android is of at least two minds here: e.g. the whole setup where using BT started to require the location permission is far from "permissions have specific meanings".
I am sad about the lack of "can use network" permission, but kind of see how that could be misleading (it's hard~impossible to prevent two cooperating applications running on the same machine from communicating, at least according to Qubes folks). Eh, but similar things can be said about the location permission, which does exist~~~
@zens How is (5) an advantage? Sophistication by itself is a liability, it has to buy some actual advantage to be worth it.
@fluepke Similar to DNS and BGP (or just DNS) being the backbone of identity for domains?
@lunalapin Over USB mass storage or somehow else?
Have you managed to deprive the phone of the will or ability to connect to wireless networks (WiFi or mobile)?
@duponin One thing that's not immediately obvious about is that as soon as you give something typed as an interface to someone, they can change their behaviour based on whether it happens to have some other method on it (so, if you use any interface type, we enter the world of duck typing immediately).
So, e.g. if you give someone an io.Reader, they can use RTTI to ask if it has a Frob() method, and change their behaviour based on this. It's also sadly considered acceptable to barely (in case of checking if a Writer is also a Closer to Close it if it is) document it or even don't document that at all (if checking whether a Writer has a ReadFrom method). This makes embedding a type (i.e. creating a struct with an unnamed field) ~always potentially dangerous, because you might be embedding some methods from the inner type that you'd have wanted to intercept if you knew of them.

That sounds like a good idea regardless? Showing kids how to make <foo> is IMO only bad if <foo> is a dangerous thing that they can successfully make (or unsuccessfully in a dangerous way). I don't expect any kids to make cigarettes from scratch after learning how tobacco farming works. Do you see any other reason telling kids about tobacco farming is bad? (Or do I misread your subtext?)
The sigil was drawn in ash, salt, and blood. The candles, carefully placed at the cardinal points, flared up, as a tired figure appeared.
"You have misspelled Azth'luh."
"I didn't," the summoner said.
"There, you have written Azth'loh. Summons an editor, not a demon."
"I know."

I enjoy things around information theory (and data compression), complexity theory (and cryptography), read hard scifi, currently work on weird ML (we'll see how it goes), am somewhat literal minded and have approximate knowledge of random things. I like when statements have truth values, and when things can be described simply (which is not exactly the same as shortly) and yet have interesting properties.
I live in the largest city of Switzerland (and yet have cow and sheep pastures and a swimmable lake within a few hundred meters of my place :)). I speak Polish, English, German, and can understand simple Swiss German and French.
If in doubt, please err on the side of being direct with me. I very much appreciate when people tell me that I'm being inaccurate. I think that satisfying people's curiosity is the most important thing I could be doing (and usually enjoy doing it). I am normally terse in my writing and would appreciate requests to verbosify.
I appreciate it if my grammar or style is corrected (in any of the languages I use here).
