UPDATE:

I installed and checked on Tusky: the unfollowed account is gone from my home feed. Looks like an issue in Fedilab.

Noob question:

I unfollowed an account but it's still showing up on my home feed. Is there something else I need to do or is it a bug in Fedilab?
(Yes, I refreshed, restarted, and waited a while)

@pwinn I'm also new and just realized my reply was unlisted. 🤪🤦

You have a good point though: the term "virtue signalling" can have a bad connotation but can definitely also be a good thing. I'll adopt "social signalling" in the future as a wider umbrella term with less value judgement. 👍

@pwinn Good write-up.

I joined QOTO earlier this year because it matched up with me being a scientist, the tone of the instance sounded good, and it was mid-sized.

The bandwagon virtue signalling going on by defederating from QOTO isn't healthy, in my opinion. My hope is that this is just a wave that will pass, hopefully quickly with people acting as diplomats to those who defederated QOTO and convincing them to reconsider.

When I press that button nothing happens, and when I go to Followed Tags I get this error: "Your instance does not seem to support that feature!" Is it an app issue or an instance issue related to Mastodon 4, or both perhaps?

@freemo
I joined qoto earlier this year. Qoto was on the list of recommended instances.
I haven't seen one term being used: virtue signaling. I think it's possible that once a name has become unpalatable in a group--especially with the aire of "you're with us or against us"--it's hard to pull out of that. Personally, I don't see what the big deal is; it seems like a misunderstanding around the term "free speech", which for some includes hate speech, causing others to think qoto supports that.

I'm getting around 50-100 connections per day and over the past month used around 10GB. Maybe it has something to do with proximity and/or connection quality? Someone else mentioned they were had used around 100GB!

@Romaq
That makes sense and I think I'll follow that convention from now on. Thx! 👍 Regarding length: yeah that first post was designed as a test and it was just too funny to delete once I learned about qoto's limit. 😁

! I like it when the is for everyone and am trying out the . Please bear with me; I was told I should use lots of and am trying out the features.

I'm using on Android. I already have a : can I add hashtags in Fedilab to my home feed? Right now I have some hashtags in the top bar but I have to view them all separately. !

How many characters are too many? Can I just go on forever? I heard there was a limit but I still haven't reached it. Maybe it's 600 characters? 1000? I guess at some point the numbers will just go red and I will know what's up. Ok it wasn't 600. I'll just search online then because this is getting way out of hand. ...GREAT SCOTT I'm glad I did: it's 65,535 characters on my instance. 😂
