It is annoying that so few services support but I'll accept that. What really irks me is the features that don't work at all with dual stack enabled, e.g. when adding a virtual network to a Function App it didn't work until I found the limitation "The integration virtual network can't have IPv6 address spaces defined". Not supporting it is fine; not working when it is enabled is just really bad.

@ConorMahood Cortex is one of my favourite systems, and I like the latest iteration, but have only played/run Firefly (Cortex Plus). Hope to run Dragon Prince soon.

BrisCon, April 29-30 in Brisbane (Australia), has just released their schedule, so check out if there are any games you are interested in. I am running briscon.com.au/role-playing-ga

My programming hot take of the day is that your user model shouldn't contain your password hash field.

It should be a on a separate table and web app tutorials should go through the effort of putting it on a separate table.

Because eventually you're going to log or serialize the user model in a way that is going to accidentally leak the password hash.

And while systematic log redaction is nice, it's much harder than simply not storing the two things with each other.

@glitchontwitch yes, Legend or Open Quest are two BRP like systems, d% based with point buy for skills. But they don't have levels you can plan.

Savage Worlds is a good system, with clear advancement across tears and you can make some tactically complex characters, although the overall system is a bit simpler than D&D.

There are also systems that have a lifepath type character generation, e.g. Burning Wheel (but system is overly complex) or maybe some of the Warhammer systems or Traveller.

BTW, mastodon has thoroughly eclipsed Twitter as the meeting place for developers and clear-thinking users. I don't imagine you'll see too many more Twitter links from me.

@martinralya although not that CC does not give patent or trademark rights, so there are still limits. CC also reserves integrity rights, so if you use it to produce something abhorrent you can still get sued.

@jayembosch yes, there is a minor threat to users of SRD 3 (but I think the OGL is perpetual anyway). So yes, back to the same step 1 they have been in for the last 20 years.

But for anyone relying on SRD 5, now that it is CC, you just add the credit (and remove the OGL), and you are fine.

Things like OSR could be just as derivable from SRD 5 as 3, and people like Paizo have said themselves they no longer use any of the SRD wording, but use the OGL to make their content useable.

SRD 5.1 under CC is the important thing in the announcement. Retaining OGL 1.0a for older stuff is minor (and I think it was perpetual anyway).

And lo, the entire D&D 5th edition System Reference Document has been published under a Creative Commons license. At the end of the day that’s one of the most culturally significant CC releases ever. Wild. Thanks to all who advocated. #TTRPG #CreativeCommons

@mike but let's not stop now; let's keep the pressure on so that other publishers - Paizo, Chaosium, Pinacle, MCG, etc - all follow.

@DnDFanatics yeah, I think you missed the major point is that the is now dead; the is now available under . The goal of has been achieved.

@DnDFanatics

Ahh... I mean sure. But only a melon would publish under 1.0a at this point. The Creative Commons for the D&D SRD is rather more relevant.

Oh! Which means that when Level Up takes the plunge you'll get the full rules for D&D 5e AND everything under Level Up 5e which is _rather more generous_ and offers rather more support.

So @montecook, are MCG now going to release the core system under , and join such great games as Blades in the Dark, Dungeon World, Gumshoe, and Fate?

@anastas2002 @CheekyKokako it is genuine, set up by a partner (not Pinnacle), because I had a few chats with their admin. They had originally copied an aggressive block list from elsewhere and Qoto (my instance) was on it.

They removed it, but I still can't follow, so not sure what the issue is (could be a version thing; Qoto is a bit behind/customised).

But worth checking why it is being flagged.. maybe the "@" in the URL ... or maybe it is a shared server used by bad actors?

Either way, I don't think following from the Fediverse would be affected. You can paste the URL into the search/follow box (not your browser), or try their account @peginc@savageworlds.social

The is such a small amount of content that putting it under has only benefits, and zero cost -- rules can't be copyrighted, and the was perpetual. Many other games already use CC. Negative association with brand doesn't make sense, as the SRD doesn't contain any brand stuff.

Another upside, is that it leapfrogs the and crowd -- so are Paizo , @peginc@savageworlds.social , Chaosium all now going to move to Creative Commons as well? That would be great.

Ironsworn: Starforged is now available in print through Modiphius! Order online, or check with your favorite local game store about stocking or ordering Starforged.

Thanks, as always, for supporting my creative endeavors!

@CheekyKokako I didn't see it mentioned yet, so Pinnacle Entertainment (PEG / Savage Worlds) have an account (& server): savageworlds.social/@peginc

(But I couldn't get it working, to follow)

I got TeslaMate (github.com/adriankumpf/teslama) up and running via docker, so I can start collecting some data from my new car, and just did my first trip (to the shops at lunch).

Just a simple docker compose deploy, with PostgreSQL for the database, Grafana for the reporting, and Mosquitto (MQTT) for integration.

It runs on my own local server (QNAP NAS), but could be your own server in the cloud (you would need to add a secure proxy in front for access), and calls the Tesla API for realtime data.
