@georgetakei in Australia at least, inflation exists because of the government. They have an explicit 2-3% target and manipulate cash rates. They could target zero, but instead they explicitly cause inflation.

Congratulations to Taylor Swift, someone who is using her enormous platform and celebrity for very good things like voter registration. Well deserved!

New breach: India's RailYatri travel agency had 23M unique email addresses breached in Dec last year. Data also included name, gender, phone and tickets purchased, including travel locations. 36% were already in @haveibeenpwned. Read more: cybersecuritynews.com/railyatr

@lovelylovely Well, in Australia at least, inflation is explicitly controlled/set by the government. The reserve bank board changes official rates to try and achieve a target rate of inflation.

They could choose to target zero, instead they deliberately target 2-3%.

In Australia inflation has nothing to do with corporations, only the government.

We are going to this weekend and taking our daughter and some of her friends; one of the parents offered me petrol money, but I drive an ... so that doesn't work as there is no petrol :-)

Looks like Meta is going to get that distinction, if they complete the integration of Threads.

Really enjoyed the urban fantasy series on set in Norway, that just finished with season 3.

One suggestion though is stop at season 3 episode 5, which I thought was a good ending.

Do not watch the alternate ending in season 3 episode 6, at least not immediately. In my opinion it was weak, inconsistent and completely negated a lot of character development and plot lines.

The rest of the show is great. Stop at S3E05.

Germany once again leading the #MastodonMigration: The parliament of the federal state of #RheinlandPfalz stops posting to #X/#Twitter and will use #Mastodon instead.

It speaks of problematic developments under #ElonMusk and says, that for example #Nazi content is now barely moderated over there. And also that the significance of Twitter shrinks.

@controlc yeah, it is a bit silly. They should just allocate a /64 on demand (and be able to supply more time than the entire IPv4 address space).

The public addresses are meant for individual allocation to public services, hence the limit. For actual networks, you can just assign your own ULA ranges.

At least public IPv6 is now free, so you can get as many /16 ranges as you want.

@UnderEu @nygren it is not necessarily hard coded literals, but more likely coding assumptions that there is only IPv4, e.g. C++ insufficient memory allocation, etc.

Especially seems to fail with DNS64, where they may have made a seemingly reasonable assumption that they only publish IPv4 address, so a DNS resolve will get that address.

Bad assumption: for the usual NAT44 that address is fine, but for NAT64 it will resolve to an IPv6 address, which is probably where the code fails.

Same underlying issue, i.e. assuming IPv4 when it is not, so 464XLAT can fix it... but it means setting up an IPv4 island in the middle of your network, which is not ideal.

@mark22k IPv6 is a software/network stack issue, nothing to do with hardware; i.e. works with standard shields, see: github.com/njh/EtherSia

@konahart generally playbooks for FitD are not meant to be classes, so you can generally mix and match powers as needed (maybe talk to the GM).

Also, have you read the Stormlight Archives? One of the main character matches your trope (but they do use mystical powers).

mantle for follower, based on 4E drawing; planning to wear for D&D in a Castle.

It occurred to me today that the social value of the open-source work I do in my free time has probably been an order of magnitude more useful to the world than everything I've ever done as a paid employee. Needing to seek a wage almost certainly makes me a less productive member of society than I would otherwise be.
