I'm Jeremy, and I'm a keen player of #ttrpg like #dnd
I'm also a *very* amateur #blacksmith, and my full-time job is playing concierge to my two cats, Colin and Suzie.
When I'm not doing that, I'm an engineering manager at a software firm, and most Tuesday evenings I run D&D at my local #boardgame cafe as part of a #meetup
I am late but here is my #introduction
I am a #genomics scientist at #IRD, French National Research institute for #sustainable development.
I use #bioinformatics, #NGS, #graph genome and #pangenome to understand the impact of #anthropization on #plant evolution... I have also some touch on #insect and #algae #genome, #antibiotic resistance, #vizualisation and so on.
I am also working for #openscience
And I am found of #rpg #ttrpg
Sad to see so many sites on the no IPv6 wall of shame: https://whynoipv6.com/country/au
@onlyfeatures just finishing up playing in a 4+ year long Burning Wheel campaign; apart from that running a lot of D&D because it is popular and easy to find players; next I'm keen on trying to run Scum & Villainy (sci-fi derivative of Blades in the Dark).
Just discovered Mastodon this morning. Here is my first post! I'm excited to be here. I worked as a refugee lawyer for 10 years in London, now working on disarmament in Geneva. I'm hoping to meet others who believe in a world without borders, I'd like to work on building a political movement together. Connect with me if interested
I'm very new here, although I did sign up for a mastodon account a few years ago but did nothing with it.
My name is Brendan and I'm a Director of an Internet service provider.
I'm also a radio amateur and electronics 'nerd'
In recent years I have been very active in campaigning for drug policy reform in Ireland. Particularly in the area of Cannabis reform, however a total overhaul of all drug policy needs to happen urgently.
Looking forwards to meeting some new people here
Exciting times ahead as my Google Hub Max started appearing as a #Thread network border router. I was able to provision #Matter test device (Nordic #Thingy53 weather station) via my Android phone and see it on the hub! Now I just need to work out how to join it to my existing #OpenThread network.
Our software engineer @niwinz talked about "How IDs are generated in Penpot"

Bit of a close call with an upgrade of #OpenWRT on my router where I locked out access (I think a VLAN config mistake) and couldn't get the serial debug working. While working on that my son found the solution to switch back to second firmware partition (a nice design), and I was able to redo the upgrade.
This #EncryptionDay, share the email self-defense guide for tips on how to keep your communications away from prying eyes. Please boost this post!!!
Today, October 21st marks Global #EncryptionDay. This has given us an occasion to reflect on recent attacks to encryption on the part of governments, specifically the European Union. https://u.fsf.org/3ut Please read and share widely!
My #IoT article on the #M5Stack Atom #NBIoT device (via #Telstra), using secure #MQTT over #IPv6 is now up. If you are interested in a bit of #ESP32 programming using #PlatformIO then check it out: https://purple.telstra.com/blog/m5stack-atom-nb-iot-device-with-secure-mqtt-over-ipv6
@eriner is it the same deficiencies as email? Distributed identity is hard to get momentum. Stack Overflow shut down their OpenID after 10 years as hardly anyone used it. https://meta.stackexchange.com/questions/307647/support-for-openid-ended-on-july-25-2018
And Microsoft CardSpace (.Net 3.5 era) never even really got started.
