mpaa: you wouldn't... steal a car 😏
me: gonna stop you right there hoss, you're conflating personal with private property. personal property is something owned for use by an actual person, private property is resources exploited for profit by a capitalist. I would not steal a car, but only because doing so would deprive a person of a thing they were using without their consent. intellectual property is always private property and "stealing" it in a digital medium is victimless.

Are there any #activitypub servers implemented in #java or #kotlin? I’ve found them in Ruby, Rust, and PHP but I’m very surprised there’s almost nothing in the fediverse implemented in one of the most popular languages in the industry.
My suggestion, spread this story to journalists and lets get some attention to it..
Here is the list of journalists on the fedi:

Mastodon highkey reminds me of an internet forum from 2008. It’s kind of amazing how spoiled we all are, when I was 10 I was always switching between no less than 5 forums at once to talk to people, and now it feels exhausting thinking about instances and decentralization.
Kinda miss the forum days. Minus all the creepy people and weird admins.
@LemmyDev it looks like matrix link on profile (https://matrix.to/#/#lemmy-space:matrix.org) is not the right place for users to ask questions about problems signing up?
I was thinking that the fediverse needs to offer 'Mastodon' servers written in other languages, eg #rust, but it turns out I just needed to learn more. What I found is that there are ActivityPub servers written in a wide variety of languages. What I'm on a quest for now is the absolute lowest cost server to maintain, eg. server less, like on cloudevents, google cloudfunctions, or AWS lambda? That way maintainers wouldn't have to pay for running a server when it's idle.
I have a couple of ideas I'd like to explore for Mastodon. One is being able to run (and federate) instances anonymously via #i2p. The other is lightweight, low cost instances via #cloudevents and #rustlang
Why write an empty finalize() method?
