Interpol agrees: using stalkerware to monitor someone through their phone or computer is abuse. The International Criminal Police Organization will promote training sessions developed by the Coalition Against Stalkerware to 194 member countries. https://stopstalkerware.org/2021/04/23/interpol-supporting-coalition-against-stalkerware-to-fight-tech-enabled-abuse/
Government agents shouldn’t be allowed to rifle through your computer and phone for no other reason than you traveled internationally. We want the Supreme Court to hear our case and protect the privacy of travelers crossing the U.S. border. https://www.eff.org/press/releases/eff-and-aclu-ask-supreme-court-review-case-against-warrantless-searches-international
Funny how some users immediately wanna jump instances when stuff is a bit slow
I won't hold you back but keep in mind almost (if not) all instances are "hobby based" and not like Twitter or Facebook that have multiple servers world wide
Downtime can happen but please give the admin also some time for fixing things❤️ We do our best for you, always!
And no, we would never ever "slow down" servers
That's a big weird and counterintuitive
The thing I'm most excited about now that the Librem 14 is shipping, is running Qubes on it. In this post I talk about why I think it's the best Qubes laptop you can buy: https://puri.sm/posts/best-qubes-laptop-is-the-secure-librem-14/
We’ve been thinking about it wrong: The norm has been Insecurity by obscurity
The Crypto AG CIA backdoor story (2020) clarifies to me much of the neverending flood of “outlaw strong crypto” thinkpieces and “lawful access” (a/k/a mandated backdoors) proposals.
I realised today that the whole #SecurityByObscurity discussion was missing a major insight: For much of the Cold War period, the operational standard has been instead #InsecurityByObscurity ...

Email mastodon+swiley@swiley.net (this makes all of my computers beep and turn on an indicator light and is always the fastest way to reach me.) I was on octodon a while ago but abandoned my account. I've never been a member of gab or parlor.
If you’d like to learn to program I would consider the SICP [1] more or less the peak of American CS pedagogy (at least as far as beginners go) along with “The Practice of Programming” once you get through that.
I play ukulele, I’m ok at reading music and decent at improv. I learned from Walter Piston’s “Harmony” and some of Adam Neely’s videos.
My main phone is a pine phone so if I don’t pick up when you call the battery is probably dead, the modem is probably dead, or I’m currently swearing at calls/pulseaudio/alsa. I’d strongly recommend sending an email instead.
Dispite what my web page says I’ve stopped uploading my scratch projects to GitHub once I started to understand the basics of collaboration with git. I was using the flamegraph as gamification/motivation but it doesn’t work as well with feature branch/squash merge workflows so I just keep most things on my VPS until I’m happy with publishing updates.
