Asked this last month (+ got lots of great answers), but now I have lots more followers :-)
Please suggest a cool paper/preprint in your field in the last year.
For a course I teach, I am collecting papers: cell/dev bio, microbio, neuro, maths/stats/CS/chem/phys applied to biology.
Students use a paper as the basis for a "research grant application" that they will write. So papers that are cool but also open doors to future study are ideal. Do you know one? It can be your own, I don't mind!

A Koch-funded litigation group is suing the state of California to block a new law set to take effect in January that would empower the medical board to punish doctors who spread COVID misinformation to their patients.
Unsurprisingly, the New Civil Liberties Alliance is suing on behalf of a group of doctors who have pushed COVID misinformation.

This was the right decision, and it must be hard on the trainees.
I wonder if there should be different names or processes for "paper retracted due to fraud" and "paper retracted because authors realized they made a crucial mistake, or their views have changed" ?
the word itself has a strong chilling effect on making the right choice I think
imagine if instead it was the norm to post like an "author contraversion", and these were encouraged and even put on CVs

I know almost nothing about tomography and it basically seems like magic, visualizing specific ribosomal proteins and cytoskeletal filaments from an organism in a co-culture community...
