@pixelfed
Hi. Great website! Definitely another avenue for newcomers to the Fediverse. We need a diversity of these gateways, and this one certainly does a great job.
One big thing for me. I don't know if you were a part of the making of the featured video. I'll assume you weren't. The video's script is too technical and assumptive. It introduces jargon too quickly and strings them together in a sentence that would go past a lot of people's heads. In another post, I wrote that I would be willing to write another more newbie-friendly, more accessible script, and even give my own voice recording with proper callibration. If this message gets a chance to reach the makers of this otherwise great video, I'd be thankful! We're a relatively small community, so we need to make the best of what we've got and work together.

Chronology in Hare

I might add that the point of Federation is to allow people to settle on servers which suit their level of sensitivity, and to create a supernetwork which is organically connected, instead of one massive central network (Twitter) which tries to moderate and please everyone equally (and fails miserably).
@RWB_writer
"Mastodon" is just a type of server on the Fediverse. There are thousands of Fediverse servers. Some run Mastodon, others run Pleroma, etc. It's more of a supernetwork rather than a "platform".
Each server has their own set of rules. There is not "official" or "central" server, they're all interconnected at each other's descretion.
The server you're on, mastodon.social, shows its rules here:

That is so darn cool. Incredible to see a European space agency with an official Fediverse page!

@framasoft
I really think this video could be much better made to be simpler and more understandable.
I'm very passionate about the preservation and proliferation of the Fediverse. I'd be happy to write a new script and even give my own voice and audio recording.
@framasoft
The vocabulary and script could have been a little simpler and clearer. Introducing and mixing words like "exchange", "provider", "login", "federation", "universe", without much context or definitions inbetween them is very confusing for a non-tech person.
I think we spend so much time as developers that we can sometimes assume most people understand what we say. I know for a fact my non-tech-savy mother wouldn't understand this video. The words go by too fast.
Also, the microphone/voice has too much echo. Get under a bed blanket. It's too quiet against the music.
Constructive critisism over. Thanks for putting the effort into making this video! We definitely need more of this kind of content which defines just the Fediverse as a single concept, and not just "Mastodon", etc.
