@Marphurius #Rossi seems to say that the stock photos on the #Receptio pages are due to a technical problem. That doesn't seem credible to me. Among other things, #Kidd posted a link showing pages that have recently been deleted from reception.eu: web.archive.org/web/diff/20221 There I find an image of myself, clearly a photomontage that I never knew anything about.

Very good summary (in German) of #Receptiogate, including some new statements and thoughtful commentary in the context of Swiss academia and funding practices:

#6 in the year-end musical retrospective is another tune with my transatlantic band, The Calm Rads: "Only One (Song for Heather)".

One of our more upbeat, rocking numbers, sort of in the direction of 70s rock.

Some recording and final mixing done in #ardour.

#5 in the year-end musical retrospective: "A Spring Romance".

I'm really pleased with how this one turned out, and I think it does have something happy and spring-like to it.

We live in a benighted age where not everyone cares about vim and emacs, but among those who do, I believe there is a generational divide. If you have an opinion and an age, please respond:

“Beyond Word Processing: The Online Text System” (1979-10-03)

Very interesting memo by David Casseres on what what could perhaps be called “NLS-style text editing” in the context of Jef Raskin’s original Macintosh project (i.e., before Steve Jobs took over).

Also, remember that #Elsevier owns #Mendeley, which it uses to collect data on you. #Zotero is #OpenSource and not run a by an EvilCorp.

See this blog by @eikofried and Robin Kok on Elsevier's #data extraction and collection practices.

Lots of reasons to ditch anything to do with Elsevier.

Very interesting and provocative article (not sure I agree with conclusions, but they are worth considering seriously).

A propos of the #Kidd / #Rossi #plagiarism case and for the record: there are hundreds of #scholarly #blogs, some hosted by academic publishers and archived by national libraries, publishing important and useful work, often ahead of publication in peer-reviewed venues. These blogs are a valid form of scholarly output and merit attention, attribution, citation and respect. @Mareike2405 @dehypotheses

Peter Kidd has published a first summary of yesterday’s discoveries about Carla and her activities: “The RECEPTIO-Rossi Affair, Part I: The Staff.”

@CerstinMahlow As we’re speaking, astronauts are examining one of these alien communication systems. Its functioning is still a mystery, though.

@hasmis Both the extreme left and the extreme right in Germany love Putin. And a significant part of the center just wants to get back to business as usual (emphasis on “business”) and sees no problem with China either 🤷‍♂️

The first test flight took us to Ursus minor. Alien life form is remarkably similar to the terrestrial Ursus arctos, except for size. Friendly, but hungry.

@hasmis It’s actually less of a left/right thing, but that only makes it worse: essentially all German parties seem to be hell bent on making the country dependent on dictators and dubious regimes, all the while pontificating about “values.”

@toxomat @erik_kwakkel First, we’ll see how well the lessons from this other famous case involving a titularprofessor have been learned…
