@freemo I read your article, I wasn't aware of the drama happening behind the scene, I don't know much about Eugen, but as much as I read about him I had the impression he's left leaning person, so I was surprised by your article title.

I don't think that title is fair to be honest, because most people won't read the article and just assume that Eugen is a NAZI sympathizer, especially because it's coming from you and your opinion hold some weight.

As far as I understand the situation from the article, some internet trolls manage to spam this instant with NAZI props, because of that other instances defeded from QOTO. Reaching out to those instances exacerbated the situation which made Eugen delist QOTO from the joinmastodon.

Delisting QOTO from joinmastodon is messed up, but I don't think that proves that Eugen caves to NAZI's agenda.

I am not here to defend Eugen, I am traying to see what is happening from a neutral lenses.

The most likely scenario is that Eugen had some false informations about what was happening in QOTO and decided to just delist to quiescent the situation and move on with his live.

The main reason I joined qoto is because I read somewhere that this instance don't defed from others, so I can reach and read from people all over the fediverse and not stay in one instance bubble. That all I care about and I think what most people do. The second reason is that this instance is stable no downtime and my data is safe and secure. This by itself is amazing and great accomplishment, people don't give credit enough to the sysadmin work.

There are some activist, (far left and far right) that crave (like dopamine) for internet drama I hope that Dr. Freemo don't take the bait and fuel that drama with drastique changes, i.e. defeding from other instances and writing inflammatory articles.

In this instance I have all the tools available to deal with trolls and content I don't want to see, I don't need a sysadmin daddy to moderate the content for me, I am always against that.

Let's get back to science article posting and let the activist (let and right) scream into the the void abyss. (pun intended)

The drama is over at this point, now we are working on a solution... we are working to build a "United Federation of Instances" with the intent of addressing this issue for QOTO and other instances in the future.

@freemo From a far left perspective this instance might seem like a right wing propaganda free speech heaven and from the far right perspective this instance might seem like an LGBTQ+ communist safe space.

Both sides crave for dominance and narrative control. Spamming NAZI props to an instance that don't play along with their narrative it's a classical attack tactic that both sides use.

The most important part is that both type of activists don't respond to logic nor constitution, they just care about their propaganda, creating drama and discourse i.e. dopamine rush, it's impossible to cater to all their wants.

As long there is effective mesures to block large DDOS/SPAM attack on the instance level and for responsible individuals to deal with trolls and unwanted content this is by far enough to create a healthy and expending community with diverse opinions

@voidabyss I disagree, the end result of that are far-left and far-right silos, and silos for every other interest group.. the far-anything will always be isolated by the very consequence of being an extremist. They are welcome to isolate themselves. The UFI is intended for those who want to be part of the greater community, within certain reasonable limits.

My impressions is that you are trying to engage in good faith with some admins in the fediverse, but those admins have preconceived notion or in bad faith (in my opinion) decided to defame your character taking out of context some of your social interactions, jokes or statements.

I saw in the emails that you are trying to appeal to them and appease their concerns. Some of those admins might see that as weakness or an admission of their bias against you.

I don't know how to cater to those type of individuals without loosing your principales and unique character.

Those folks label anyone that they don't like as NAZIs
