I wonder if democrats even realize that even if they are objectively the best choice, the overwhelming toxicity from that community to any level of criticism results in massive number of voters who are going to vote for trump purely as an emotional response to being mistreated by the community.. purely out of spite.
In fact at this point I think Democrats and the way they treat people is probably the only real reason Trump is part of the landscape at all.
Yes we shouldnt just be outraged at democrats for burning houses and businesses to the ground... we should also be outraged that Trump wanted to enforce the law and make it so people couldnt burn down houses and buisinesses... truely him wanting to stop innocent people from being burned out of their homes and businesses is the most evil thing he ever did.
LOL come on. Trump is super evil and there is PLENTY to dislike about him... But when cities like mine were literally on fire (for a week the skys were black from the smoke) him wanting people to be held accountable for their violence is probably the lowest priority in the least of reasons to be outraged at Trump.
@freemo @volkris The part I was outraged about was his orders not being followed. I can see that my original statement was ambiguous. Any President has the duty to put that sort of thing down.
If Trump tried and his orders were refused, then the bureaucracy committed a crime. If Trump did not use all the executive authority at his disposal because he was worried about the optics, then Trump committed a crime.
The National Guard should have gone in.
@mike805 frankly, I think we should all see that and promote it as a sign of how ineffective Trump was as president.
There is no such thing as the permanent bureaucracy. The entire executive branch serves under the president, and the president can change it if the president knows how.
#trump
just didn't know how, and he shows no signs of having learned since.
So all of this blame legally and philosophically rests on Trump's shoulders, and whether you want to vote for the guy or not, we need to be clear about that.
We absolutely cannot let Trump get away with making excuses like we have seen so many on the right making lately.
@volkris @freemo That I agree with. I'm not sure how Trump ran his businesses without them getting looted by corrupt underlings, but Trump absolutely SUCKED at picking people. When he did replace agency heads who were obviously undermining him, he got worse people to replace them with.
He also had a bad habit of initially saying the right thing, but then backing off in response to media criticism.
Trump watched TV, that was one big problem he had.
White knighting is definately a huge element here. That is a bit of a left narrative. Tehy are taught how there is so much injustice in the world... and there is, lots, but its exagerated beyond the already high point it is at to the point where the left thinks its literally everywhere.
So they have this sense of white knighting and championing the cause. But then when they struggle to find anything as bad as they imagined they instead need to turn every little moderate offense into being the worse thing since the Nazis... this hyperbole combined with actively seeking things to white knight results in a lot of misplaced toxicity for sure.
@volkris @freemo If someone ever comes in and provides a place to focus their rebellion, then things will get interesting, in the Chinese curse sense.
Right now nobody has a viable vision of the future. Some have an imaginary past they want back. If a leader could provide a vision of the future he could kick over this hollow and rotten system.
