@fulelo

All this flip-flopping is bad for the rest of us, given that China makes so much of our stuff, I think there seems to be agreement that this will hurt the US (and probably MAGA supporters) more than anything else, couple that with the fact he is kicking out migrants who also make things, that will add to more costs.

If items are going to be made in the USA, then people are going to have to pay those people proper wages (or more in highly specialised cases) this will also add to costs, assuming companies can find, train and retain those people long tern.

|Seeing a few billionires who backed trump, seeing their fortune divebomb will be a price worth paying.

I agree, in some ways the fediverse proves we don't need big tech social media. So given that, we can be confident that we no longer need the USA. We can and will survive without it.

If the U.S. fails, we can work with Australia and Canada to make it work.

You can still use the site if you tell your browser to accept the expired SSL certificate.

Thanks for your comprehension.

Trump sees the EU block as a threat to the USA, not sure what evidence there is on the EU taking advantage of the USA, We need to be stronger and while the UK won't rejoin the EU without this being a election manifesto, we can form better trading ties with the EU and would welcome this. We can also form trading ties with other countries such as Canada, and the current siutation makes it mutually beneficial to both sides, to the extent where it should be much easier.

The USA is going backwards, let them go backwards, as trading should be more than about goods, we should also be looking at who we are trading with and trading with countries reject science, reject DEI and equality and human rights, should be a factor in decding NOT to trade.

We do not need the USA, we do not need big tech, and much of the other nonsense that comes form the US. The world can manage without the US.

Once the USA is truly isolated it may realise what THEY have done to themselves and make changes, perhaps in 100 years time.

@MostlyHarmless

Grow up to be president fine, as long as you grow up first.

Can we just admit we may have taken this ‘anybody can grow up to be President’ thing a bit too far?

@rail_

Last time we were in France on Holiday, the ATM machines were in French, English, German and perhaps Italian. Certainly more than one language.

i love france

my polish bank is like: okay here's the website and UI and actual support line in Polish, English and Ukrainian (most likely will speak Russian too)

biggest french banks: no English website at all, AT BEST "this English website is just an ad, all important things are in French" kind of EN version

“Today at 3PM, President Trump will sign an Executive Order to reinvigorate AFFORDABLE, RELIABLE, AND CLEAN COAL!” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote on X on Tuesday. “Coal is critical to achieving American Energy and AI Dominance.”

While the phrase “clean coal” is popular among #Trump’s allies, #coal is by far the dirtiest of the #FossilFuels.

“The world’s dumbest people are currently destroying America and the world. The worst part was that it all could have been avoided if enough people had simply voted for a competent, Black, Indian American woman.”

@DrALJONES I’ve been seeing screenshots of online checkout screens where companies are putting a line item to show how much of the total is because of tariffs. I think it’s great. People need to know that these companies aren’t going to absorb any of this themselves, and that this is a direct result of the insane clown they voted in.

@yoginho

Yeah, a true dire wolf would also adopt the traits of its parents, I guess if they had some pure dire wolf DNA it could be done, but then you would also need to clone from several samples to repopulate, or you introduce genetic problems along the way

Public service announcement: this is *not* a dire wolf.

It is a genetically modified grey wolf made to resemble an extinct species, so a bullshit company can raise more money for their bullshit projects.

#Deextinction is a scam on so many levels I don't even know where to begin. It will *not* help us save endangered species. Instead, we should spend our money on preserving their habitats *before* they go extinct.

You could conjour one of these up on the Spectrum game Chaos: Battle of wizards.

@felicitymartin

Looks like a reminder has gone out not to use bbqs on the moors, so this may be one factor. Again start of school holidays and nice weather.

@felicitymartin
