Big tech won't like that, the problem is, how would a party get into power without relying on big tech social media to promote party policies,
The west needs a new political system, I think the likes of Farage / Corbyn setting up new parties is a start, but they still need actual policies and traction to get seats.
So campaign using social media, if that party wins, they will come down hard on big tech, on a range of issues.
Any new party are going to perhaps have to adopt the fediverse and campaign that way so they don't fall foul of big tech terms, we here are privacy friendly so campaign to adopt a similar set of laws such as gdpr, dma etc in the USA would also get support from admins.
I don't think a political party on here campaigning in favour of big tech would last very long.

TRIGGER WARNING
Truly SHOCKING video reporting here by #AP, about US contractors in Gaza firing live ammo at Palestinians as they come for food aid. IMHO, this is one of those times when it's important to bear witness, unless it would be too distressing to watch the footage. Will be shocked if this does not explode in the news.

Yeah, I know but the BBC are barely covering all this, hence my comment.
Surely this is far more significant, just that the BBC can't bring itself to report on this, and compare these actions to those of UN aid agencies who didn't go around shooting unarmed civilians.
The web of all this is really starting to unravel and very soon it is going to be very unpleasant for a lot of people.
Not sure if these potential prosecutions of weapons suppliers, the 10 british citizens, will at some point turn on other players, e.g the bbc.
Lets hope the wrath makes people very worried.
It seems, looking at another post here at least 100 bbc employees are putting things in motion.

The EU-US Data Privacy Framework stipulates purpose limitation as a principle for the use of personal data that is transferred to US entities (article 5 letter a). Which means that data that is collected for some purpose, let's say having a social media profile, cannot be used for another (incompatible) purpose, such as LLM training.
It also states that an entity that keeps violating those principles should loose its certification.

I guess we could also add to this
If you think Netenyahu wants peace, look at pictures from Gaza and the West Bank.
Global firms ‘profiting from genocide’ in #Gaza, says UN rapporteur - https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jul/03/global-firms-profiting-israel-genocide-gaza-united-nations-rapporteur "Report by Francesca Albanese singles out companies such as #Palantir and calls for prosecutions" well, of course
Firstly I would not wish on anyone the circumstances that means they have to claim PIP. But anyone of these politicians or other civil servants who advice / process claims could be struck down tomorrow with a condition that leaves them unable to work and struggle with day to day tasks, while still having to find money for essentials, food, rent, mortgage, cooking etc.
So what would THEY do if they suddently found themselves on the other side of the system.
As the data is Open, then I think google are free to use the data, if doing so results in better information overall on their maps then that is a good thing.
If data is wrong on OSM but correct on Google Maps then surely it works the other way round too.
End game should be to build accurate maps, could be the difference between life and death in some cases.
