@lothar @KrazyTheeAlaskan @holgs@urbanists.social @micahflee @mozilla @bfdi @EU_Commission
The fact they have joined here makes fedi start to stand out and people will start to take it seriously.
I agree, however lets not forget why we are decentralised, hopefully we can also make it much easier to set up an instance, looking at what @aral is doing with small tech, he said a while back things need to be as easy to set up as in a few clicks.l and you're done.
Oh hell yeah. @mozilla is launching a Mastodon instance in early 2023! I’m very excited for this. Mozilla is really good at what they do. Firefox has over 200M monthly active users, and with any luck they’ll build better support for the fediverse into Firefox itself. Mastodon will greatly benefit from easy to use professionally run instances that can handle massive scaling https://blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/mozilla-launch-fediverse-instance-social-media-alternative/
@Jaden2@mstdn.social Agreed,
The UK 2010 Equality act gives protections based on
age
gender reassignment
being married or in a civil partnership
being pregnant or on maternity leave
disability
race including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin
religion or belief
sex
sexual orientation

So the law is generally on OUR side, we just need that collective voice to speak up.
@paulsutton I am sure there could be something odd with @writeas_org on the personal journal instance, i scheduled this for 24th December.
I need to do some more digging as it seems to post when I publish, but not when scheduled. It may be linked to when i edit scheduled posts.
Something to er look at :)

My interview with @blaine, who was there at the very beginning of Twitter; now he's focused on building #fediverse infrastructure that will help #Mastodon scale. https://thenewstack.io/why-a-twitter-founding-engineer-is-now-all-in-on-mastodon/
@nasa Looks really interesting, will haver a look and share.

@R_Dart Nice, pictures.
Hello! This seems to be the place where all the cool kids are going and I'm excited to be here. My name is Rebecca Dart and my day job is an animation art director here in Vancouver, British Columbia, but my side hustle is paleoart. I also have a passion for plants, particularly plants of prey.
1/ A few thoughts on the 'artists promoting their work' discussion: most creators you follow are not wealthy people. Writing a book does not make you rich. Being a talented painter does not make you rich. A lot of us are scrambling to pay our bills and we HATE it. We hate the hustle & posting links to storefronts. But we are also busy AF trying to survive doing 12 different jobs. If you don't like "ads" know that we hate them too - but otherwise the work doesn't get made. It's that simple.
A good reason we need to set up basic IT skills classes and teach how to use free software, decentralised services etc. And also educate why these are better.
They may lack the polish of their corporate rivals BUT they respect your freedom. privacy and rights, that is priceless.
Interested in Technology, Science, Chemistry, Education, Fediverse, GNU/Linux and free software.
