Here's the thing. Do I understand why someone wants to transition? No.

Do I need to understand the need to transition to treat people who do want to do that as, you know, people? Also no.

Trans people are not a threat to my well-being and livelihood. Their methodology might differ from mine regarding how I achieve happiness and contentment, but I understand that need because they are *people.* Those of us that are not hateful, bitch ass bigots just want to be happy and care for our loved ones.

The rhetoric around trans people being a threat is a white supremacist lie that aims to make people conform to a particular ideology as violently as possible.

The threat is white supremacy itself, trying to take away people's agency for the sake of a myopic global view that wants to implement stratification as the 'natural order.'

The same rhetoric being deployed against trans people has been used against every group white people deem undesirable; Indigenous, Black folks, Jews, the Irish, etc.

The conversation is about something other than making sense, and it's about brutally dominating people, whether it makes sense or not.

So nah, I'm not going to engage with any piece of shit about how 'trans people are the problem.'

Because they are not. The hate against them is.

We don't talk enough about the absurdity of rich countries emitting lots of CO₂ and then asking poor countries to offset those emissions.

At the bench doing chemistry. Go back to the computer to check something and the computer is weirdly off and maybe in the process of restarting (the bench is next to my desk, no power flickers that I noticed). It's now sending a signal to my HDMI monitor and not to my VGA monitor (normally it defaults to the VGA for some mysterious reason). No idea why.

Exciting session at #HEAD20 on the brightest gamma-ray burst of all time, GRB221001A. Dust echos allowed IXPE to constrain both prompt and afterglow polarization. Prompt polarization results from INTEGRAL also expected.

This is an amazing chart from the International Monetary Fund. If we stopped subsidizing fossil fuels, we would come very close to meeting our international climate targets. You can support capitalism or the fossil industry, but not both.

The James Webb Space Telescope can look for atmospheres around distant exoplanets. What a 🤯 instrument. Didn't find any atmosphere around the first planet it studied, but it will study many others.
