Ridiculous, but what do you expect from the current government.
You are very welcome, we are aiming to build something special here so posts like this show these efforts are working well.
I am really growing fond of #mastodon. Everyone is so nice here. I had so many nice and interesting interactions lately. Thanks everyone for having me ❤️
I am from the UK, not only did we ban guns, but we vastly improved school security, school have locked gates and intercoms so you need to buzz to be let in. All visitors MUST sign in, be supervised while on site, contractors need to sign in and have a badge, so security is much better.
I think to deal with school shootings (or any intruder) takes more than simply banning guns you make schools more secure.
NEWS: Censorship continues in Florida as "Ruby Bridges," a movie based on the true story of courageous 6-year-old Ruby Bridges who helped integrate segregated schools in 1960 New Orleans, has been removed from a Florida school after one parent complained it might teach white children to hate black children.
This comes right on the heels of complaints that Florida's governor, Ron DeSantis, is trying to eliminate AP African American studies from the state's schools, a charge he denies.
Yet, through his crusade against "wokeness," he has weaponized ill-informed parents against teaching a vital part of American history that must not be subject to censorship.
The subject of the movie, Ruby Bridges, is only 68 years old today -- a reminder that the dark past DeSantis is trying to obscure is not that far behind us.
He will try banning the Beatles' Eight days a week movie next has it reference to them (contractually) not playing at a segregated stadia unless fans are desegregated.

Ah ok, why can't these ports be run by a local business for local towns where they are based, so everyone in that area can simply benefit.

Douglas Adams wrote, 'The answer to everything was 42.
Does he mean that the answer to everything is rainbows?
Rainbows arc at 42 degrees. The prettiest natural phenomena ever, it make me so happy to see them.
Btw, when you sometimes see two rainbows together, the band that separates them, is called the Alexander band. Also, the secondary rainbow's colours are always inverted.

Sorry I thought this was about France,
I agree both countries the protests are getting out of hand, more worrying is what us going to happen in Israel as Netenyahu seems desperate to cling on to power despite being a criminal, meanwhile in the US a former president is trying to regain power despite facing indictment for criminal activity.
They would make a great double act.
So I am guessing the reason the pension age is rising is so that in a few decades workers have paid in enough to cover their pensions (fair enough) people are also living longer so can therefore work longer to help facilitate the above.
What would happen if Macron gave in and didn't do this BUT made a note for a future government to remind those of retirement age the reason there isn't enough money for their pension is becaused THEY objected to this decades ago and provisions that were planned were not put in place as a result.
Perhaps, at that point they may reflect on their youth, the protests and realise the government had their interest at heart.

They are a good idea, just not with the current lot in charge,

Gov't awards contract for Thames Estuary "freeport" to Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem's DP World, that last year illegally sacked 800 P&O workers by video call & replaced them with cheap labour at £4/hr.
- Sacked British workers & broke employment laws
- Made record profits, up 35% to £1.524 billion
- Failed to repay £11million of taxpayer money given to them for Covid furlough scheme
"Freeports" are going to be an absolute shit-show, aren't they.

We managed to simulate scattering patterns at very high resolution using a modified 3D Fourier Transform. This work could impact small and wide-angle X-ray scattering, as well as PDF analysis! Check out our demonstration here:
Same here, it keeps happening and will keep happening, the voices of reason here are just that but taking in to an echo chamber.
The USA is just a crazy country, mind you why would terror groups like ISIS bother to attack and kill people when the people there just kill each other.
