I have seen on more than one occasion where someone openly attacks a project/project member, and I don't know what they expect to accomplish (Twitter/Facebook cred?).

I added support for something simply because I was asked nicely. But being abrasive to a project member is a recipe to get you no where. Blasting it out on Twitter is an easy way to to make sure no one wants to work with you.

But, the fastest way to get something done in FOSS land is to do it yourself.

Self-discipline is a tool.
