Bad actors are abusing large, open-registration, low-moderation Mastodon instances in order to provide direction to the Vidar Stealer trojan horse, which steals passwords, credit card details, bitcoin wallets, etc.
If you run a large, open-registration, low-moderation instance, please consider changing at least one of those qualities.

What is the website that gives people lots of tags / people to follow by topic. I can never seem to remember the name of it, but @ByKov84 may find it useful to help find people / topics
Hello, I'm new and a little lost around here. I was asked to make an #introduction post so here I go: My name is Chris, I work as an documentary filmmaker and photographer in central america, mainly focused on social movements. I am also interested in all open source, Linux and cybersecurity stuff.
On the "Mozilla" subject. Let's face it, we don't have a mature and truly open browser nowadays. Despite the fact that Mozilla exist as foundation they're on the quest for revenue. And this is the main problem.
We need an open browser which is not driven by revenue, backed by foundation, and truly Open Source. And it must be just a browser, no bloatware, no tracking, no commercialization at all.
The web is a public place and we need a browser for public.
World Mental Health Day
This Sunday 10 October, is World Mental Health Day and a reminder to us all to look after our mind as well as our body, and to have open and honest conversations with those around us about how we feel.
Before the pandemic, Torbay residents generally reported positive wellbeing, however almost 1 in 4 said they had high anxiety levels and around 1 in 5 residents self-reported having a common mental disorder such as anxiety or depression.
As our lives begin to return to normal, many of us who have been struggling with our mental health will have the resilience to bounce back but there will be those who continue to struggle and require help and support.
In response, we have been working with partners across Devon to improve our residents' access to mental health and wellbeing services.
