Paignton Library are getting their IT learning centre refurbished mid July.

This means that we can get both Code Club and STEM group back up and running.

For this we need BOTH volunteers and people to help. I am NOT struggling to do this fully on my own again.

I will post more information in due course.

This is my periodic rant about how stupid it is that iPad, a highly-portable multi-functional device, does not support multiple users, a technology that Apple has had in their computers for literally a quarter of a century.

Because it does not have this very basic, very common, very expected, industry standard feature, I cannot log into many apps on my iPad because it is shared, sharply limiting its utility.

I could tolerate this in 2010. It is not acceptable 14 years later.

The majority of exoplanets have been found by the transit method, where the light from a star dims as the planet passes in front. But other objects could pass between us and a star, like binary planets, tidally distorted planets, exocomets, and maybe even alien megastructures. Researchers have created a transit simulator that can predict the stellar flux from various transiting objects, even finding Dyson Swarms in construction.

Today I visited American Science and Surplus, which can best be described as “neurodivergence as a shop”. They sell stuff ranging from chemistry glassware to electronics odds and ends, camping gear to novelty toys. You need ball bearings? Vintage analogue meters? Gaffer’s tape? They got it.

World must respond to the harm caused by the spread of online hate and lies while robustly upholding human rights, United Nations Secretary- General António Guterres said at launch of United Nations Global Principles for Information Integrity.

"At a time when billions of people are exposed to false narratives, distortions and lies, these principles lay out a clear path forward, firmly rooted in human rights, including the rights to freedom of expression and opinion."

@zleap Tor is overlay network aimed at providing privacy over existing internet.
The initial question was outcome of discussion on how current internet ills could be fixed. For example, by making local-centric community-centric sets of privacy-respecting services. May be via new p2p protocols as well, or by some other way, but key point here is local-first and communuty-centric approaches.
