Scientists have discovered a reservoir of liquid water on Mars - deep in the rocky outer crust of the planet
The findings come from a new analysis of data from Nasa’s Mars Insight Lander, which touched down on the planet back in 2018
The lander carried a seismometer, which recorded four years' of vibrations - Mars quakes - from deep inside the Red Planet
Analysing those quakes - and exactly how the planet moves - revealed "seismic signals" of liquid water

I know I'm preaching to the choir but the best move for Patreon and its users is to remove its app from the Apple app store and delete their developer accounts. Taking 30% of Patreon's fees was already egregious. Demanding 30% of *user donations* should be the last straw.

I have no contracts, agreements, or business with Apple. I do not use Apple products, do not rely on any of their services or tools. Yet, because of their illegal rent-seeking and predatory behaviours, even I have to deal with their bullshit because Apple is forcing Patreon to change its billing system. I have to raise prices on people using iOS to subscribe to the @osnews Patreon.

Stuff hasn't turned up yet but it should do tomorrow :3

We still sleeping on camping mats though which sucks and is very uncomfy, and we are v low on money so can't afford to fix this ourselves for fuck knows how long 😅

@zleap @vkc It's possible that if you use Ventoy to boot an ISO on a system, that booted OS could be compromised and the copy of the OS installed from that ISO may be compromised also. A malicious bootloader is able to modify the behavior of an OS it boots and render it malicious (this is not just theoretical, the BlackLotus rootkit does this in real life). There's also the possibility that installing Ventoy to a USB drive could compromise the machine that Ventoy is run on to do the installation process.

Whether Ventoy *is* doing these things is currently unknown. For the reasons mentioned in the above post, though, it's would be advisable to not use it, just in case.

If you're in the UK, some of the big pharmacy chains have opened flu vaccination appointments for early October (the NHS booking system doesn't open until September). This is a bit later than previous years, when you could usually get jabbed in September.

The eligibility criteria for a free vaccine are pretty wide - much more than Covid boosters (age 65+, asthma, BMI 40+, pregnancy and more). If you have to pay it's usually £5-15, and some employers will cover the cost.
