I mean, I don't overdo it. But if I walk past them anyway, a quick word or nod is only polite IMHO.

I didn't in my wildest dreams expect we'd have covid vaccines yet even by year 6.

So much has gone wrong on the levels of public health policy, leadership and communication, but the global scientific collaboration and innovation has been inspiring.

(I try to cling to that idea when I find myself losing hope and it helps.)

Willing to bet vast swaths of Americans are just ignorant of ways, means, responsibilities, obligations of being a citizen of such a place as USA, & the myriad things our gov't does for us (& why). Too busy, gullible, lazy, apathetic, incurious, weak-minded, conspiracy-susceptible, etc...pick a poison. It depresses more than surprises me. And not sure the fix(es)
