What if... we re-do email, but on ActivityPub? Does it make sense? Would it solve any of numerous email problems? Would it introduce any new ones?

Would love to hear the community’s thoughts on making inclusivity/accessibility a core tenet in elementary OS.

github.com/elementary/hig/disc

(Currently, it is not covered in the Human Interface Guidelines at all as far as I can see.)

@zleap @nolan I know how to type gpg --recv-keys HEX when a package fails validating, that's about the extent I'm willing to go into. It's enough to get things working

A dichotomy of user-hostile software:

- Mainstream software: user-hostile because it has a dozen popups trying to upsell you / accept cookies / grant permission to sell your data
- OSS software: user-hostile because it expects you to know how to use GPG to sign a certificate on the command line, and fuck you if you don't know what any of those words mean

In high school I annoyed the fuck out of my English teacher by switching between British and American spelling and punctuation

Humanitarian organisations around the world are collecting more and more data - are they putting people at risk?

@zleap @thor

democracy, diversity, and the entitlements state are failing

people no longer trust equality and mob rule

trump isn't even really far right; he's like reagan, a moderate right-winger

it's just that the world has gotten so far-left over the past thirty years that we can't tell the difference any longer

when you write stuff, you have to publish under a full name typically.

i’m wondering if i should use a pen name or not.

Next time you think the US wage and employment system is unfair and doesnt pay a living wage just remember this... you can spend a year in your moms bawsement learning programming and reading books and then go get an entry level job for 40k - 50k, and by the end of 4 years (presuming you continue to refine your skills) will easily be able to rake in 100K a year.... all with no diploma or formal education, just your own hard work.

You can't even get that in most of europe... america is a pretty damn good place to move up if you bother to invest in your own skills.

@fsfe@mastodon.social I tried to search for @fsfe@peertube.social on diode.zone but was unable to find it. I have shared your new video on my blog, so it should also federate here too.

Hope this helps

@thor @zleap @write_as @writefreely I find it a reaction to companies and governments that keep their algorithms and data ‘secret’ and the abuses that inevitably result. Hard to miss over time in an industry optimized for pattern matching.

@zleap @mcduquesne @write_as @writefreely if “free software” is one political movement of the software industry, then “decentralise” is another.
