Well, I hadn’t realised when we moved to Kilkenny that we’d be moving to a developing country. None of the GPs in the city are accepting any new patients. So I guess if you want modern medical care, don’t move to Kilkenny.

@zleap where i live its difficult to generate any less waste because most of my current waste output is forced by upstream.

we have glass jars and the like, but it's not possible to take them and get them refilled with beans. you have to buy packaged pinto beans and then bin the plastic. maybe the plastic is recyclable (sometimes it's wax paper or something that isn't) but it would involve even less energy to just refill a jar. but it's literally not an option.

@zleap permaculture is basically community gardening at scale. there's usually a tended personal garden region and then plants are sort of mixed in where they feel like growing for the rest of it.

there's been some fascinating research works where they had areas that were fully recycling the black water from human waste in to inedible planters.

Teach everything you know.

Even if it's already been taught 100 times before.

The experiences you've had and the way you word things will be different than the 100 times before.

Because of that, there are people that it will just click for them.

School is the only thing keeping adults from being dumber than they already are... and they are pretty damn dumb most of the time.

That said I'd be all about including survival skills in school along side traditional subjects. I also think we need a major reform on how we teach kids in the first place.
