Granted this post is not scheduled until the 8th,
https://personaljournal.ca/paulsutton/what-is-peertube
however the video isn't showing, if I go to the URL for the video I get
An Error Occurred
Services for this domain name have been disabled.
Which does illustrate part of the issue with the fediverse, if content is removed or the host breaks for whatever reason, it affects the federated content.
Is there any way to get this (and similar) videos on peertube

We should not be optimising Mastodon so it can handle more people per server. We should be optimising Mastodon so it incentivises more serves with fewer people.
(And if you take that line of thinking to its logical conclusion, you arrive at the idea behind the Small Web: https://ar.al/2020/08/07/what-is-the-small-web/)

If you're posting images, video or audio on here, it's really important to add a text description so that the post is accessible to blind and/or deaf people.
Blind people use screen reader software to read image and video descriptions aloud, and this lets them understand what is in a picture.
Deaf people read descriptions of audio and video soundtracks to find out what sound is being played.
You can find out how to add descriptions, as well as other accessibility tips for Mastodon and the Fediverse, at:
https://fedi.tips/mastodon-and-fediverse-accessibility-tips/
if I try and follow a link to google maps i end up with the following error
I have copied this in to the alt text
If I press on accept or reject it just displays again, so I am assuming I am blocking tracking somewhere.
A good reason to use alternatives such as @DuckDuckGo and @openstreetmap
that generally should 'just work'
So you have complex systems interacting with one another with no one engineer understanding how the systems work. It's possible that the engineers involved had no idea of the vulnerability when they wrote the code.

Seems to have died again; but maybe there's hope that he'll be open to a more collaborative and federated approach now?
We neglected to mention the worst part. LeeCamp is currently effectively forced to use a platform (YouTube), that deleted all his 900 episodes of #RedactedTonight.
Yes, we realise the irony of a show called "Redacted Tonight" being #censored.
At least 30 of those episodes had segments that documented the insane (and continuing) #tortureByProcess by the #USA, #Sweden and the #UK itself of our greatest journalist, #JulianAssange.
Anything you can do to reach out to Lee will help us all.
The August Paignton Library STEM Group meeting will be taking place on Saturday 13th August. This month our theme will tie in with the James Webb Space Telescope and the first images sent back on the 12th July,
As part of this we will be watching the recording of the August Space Telescope Science Institute public lecture which will be on the James Webb Space Telescope. Prior to this, we can also watch a short video to explain emission and absorption spectra.
Hopefully by meeting, I will have some resources to help with a practical activity looking at how viable light is made up of different colours.
In addition to this, there will be the usual activities which include coding, projects and what ever people bring along, we can adjust the room seating accommodate activities.
As always, this will be open to all.
