@zleap yup - frankly, I'm appalled that no one in Aotearoa NZ's gov't even investigated using locally hosted BBB for schools and businesses during lockdown rather than paying through the nose (with $ & privacy) for Zoom. The NZOSS actually have a companion BBB service to this Mastodon, hosted here in NZ, available gratis to local businesses/education since the first Covid lockdown. It's a no-brainer.

Other fun recovery activity: built a custom Lego train based on the Rhätische Bahn railcars of the Bernina line 🥰 used to ride these as a toddler when we would visit the Swiss family

Woah - German government has got its own Mastodon instance and most of the ministries and many agencies already have accounts.
Verification problem at least partially solved - just need to check the domain is right!
I've also seen newspapers like theatlantic.com set up instances themselves. Looks like verification will be worked out sooner or later.
