My wifi is down and I’m on one bar of cellular on a hill 300 yards from the house trying to answer accumulated texts and emails, so I can’t upload the audio, but rest assured there are two grey tree frogs, pretty high up in separate trees, calling to each other on either side of me. Best of luck, lil buddies. Thanks for the greatest stereo soundtrack ever.

I guess when we talk about immigration, we should look at the other side of the story too.

Migration of Health Workers from Ghana

I am not anti immigration, but in this cpntext migration out of Ghana is causing real problems for the people there.

Ghana patients in danger as nurses head for NHS in UK - medics

Same report cites social media as being partly responsible for this brain drain.

If anything, richer countries should surely be producing enough nurses & medical professionals to be able to send them overseas to gain more varied experiences and share this expertise world wide.

A good reason to tax the billionaires, corporations and find a way of helping countries such as Ghana keep hold of their essential workers, for the BENEFIT of the people in Ghana.

These are the Fastest Stars in the Galaxy

Astronomers have already discovered several stars on runaway trajectories, moving so quickly they're headed out of the Milky Way entirely. But a new survey has found six other runaway stars, including two which are moving faster than any stars ever seen. It's believed they were once part of binary systems, where their partners detonated as supernovae, and they were hurled out of the galaxy like a slingshot. These two stars have velocities of 1,684 km/s and 2,285 km/s, which means they went even faster when first kicked out.

BTW, I think Trump's news today on federal criminal charges, was the third out of three breaking news stories in the past 3 months that I learned about first on the #Fediverse, and got well informed quickly by credible news sources here. Whereas pre-Elon that role would have been #Twitter. Frankly that breaking news source would have been the ONE thing Twitter was still uniquely good for then.
Times change.
