@bigkafka I was going to just wear all black for visibility :)
Your approach might be a bit more effective :)
@freemo looks awesome man! Hope it stops raining soon brother
@W201028 Thanks man. Can't wait to let ya know how it goes
@freemo I saw a lot of those on the sand in Cannon Beach, OR last month. Very cool.

Nice. One of these days I'll buy a recumbent and convert it to electric. My wrists don't handle conventional bikes well anymore.
@kilroy_was_here yea my back and wrist dont work well with a traditional bike.. recumbants are just more fun.. should be comfortable if your gonna exercise.
@freemo Can you estimate its top speed? I guess it will very according to how much coffee and sugar you've had.
@SteelFolk Depends on the person and terrain.
I can tell you that it is **faster** than an ordinary bike for the same person (Weight and energy) put in... by a big margin. In fact they are usually banned in bike races because of their superior performance (aerodynamics). World records on recumbants typically exceed world records on ordinary bikes.
@freemo In Holland, they call them "sleeping bikes". But they regularly overtake my car.
@SteelFolk I rode mine for quite a while and never heard them called "sleeping bikes".. They were always called Leichtfeits (sp?) which as far as I know means "laying down bike"
@freemo@qoto.org @SteelFolk@qoto.org Ligfiets, yes. I never heard of them as sleeping bikes either and I'm Dutch. 😋
@SteelFolk@qoto.org @freemo@qoto.org Maybe the Dutch colleague didn't quite know how to translate a 'ligfiets' to a 'laydown bike' and thought 'sleeping bike' was easier. You English speakers have no very simple word for 'liggen' in a compound word setting without it sounding stupid, lol.
@SteelFolk@qoto.org @freemo@qoto.org I think it might be more like 'laid down bike' in English.
The meaning of 'lig' here is more that it's flat. So... horizontal bike? 😋
Indeed it is.
It would be a trike yes, specifically of the tadpole configuration.
@freemo I always dream that a modified version of recumbent bikes can replace many cars and electric cars.
Here
https://ace-shop.com/en/why-recumbents/speed/
at 250w of human power, the speed of an aerodynamic recumbent is 69km/h vs 29km/h of a normal bike and 35km/h of a sport racing bike.
Imagine one of these bikes with a trunk, some small electric unit, etc...
@freemo I recommend a big flag 1m70 high for visibility in the road...
