I just completed "Space Image Format" - Day 8 - Advent of Code 2019 #AdventOfCode #AdventOfCode2019 https://adventofcode.com/2019/day/8
wow, I seriously misunderstood the problem. Tip: make sure you understand what they are asking for before trying to accomplish it :)
I just completed "Amplification Circuit" - Day 7 - Advent of Code 2019 #AdventOfCode #AdventOfCode2019 https://adventofcode.com/2019/day/7
@kensanata@octodon.social @codesections J is pretty cool, I haven't messed with it in years
@JJFlash it's a great ride. I have been doing it for all the #toyprogrammingchallenge posts, I am no Eric but I try to find stuff.
@donovank click that hash tag and scroll all the way to the bottom and you will see my first post explaining the intent and all the ones I have posted so far.
@donovank i was aiming for 1 a week then I started tossing in the daily ones that I thought sounded cool. Best t I have stopped since I started doing AoC and will try to pick it up again afterwards. But if you are volunteering to come up with some, you might be better at it than me just use the hashtag and I will endorse you r posts
@design_RG Thanks, it's ugly as hell and someone will have to school me some on Python dictionaries to get things right, but it works,... And that's what really counts!
I just completed "Universal Orbit Map" - Day 6 - Advent of Code 2019 #AdventOfCode https://adventofcode.com/2019/day/6
@ihabunek needs backreferences and {} and NOT but it has been a while since I got crazy creative in regex
@JJFlash Thats pretty good, It has been quite some time since i BASIC
@kat I am using Python because I am trying to relearn Python in a more Pythonical way :)
It is unlikely that I will finish, or at least not in a timely fashion. I am getting ready for a 2 week trip to Tahiti without a computer, I am just not sure I can recover from being that far behind. Doesn't mean I can't finish, but maybe not by Christmas :)
Every problem is hard until you do it. Break them down into smaller tasks and solve them bit by bit. Use the smaller inputs he gives in the examples to do step-wise solutions.
@JJFlash I will have to look into that. As it is, I will soon be 2 weeks behind in the AoC because I am going to Tahiti, and I have been slow coming up with puzzles here for
#Toyprogrammingchallenge as well. So there's that :)
I did not solve both with the first try because I got the first one pretty easy, but when the second one came around, I felt the need to rewrite the InCode machine in a cleaner way and I was not happy separating the direct and relative and "output" ones. I guess I am missing a "reference" or "pointer" in my Python repertoire :) But it is working.
Hint if you want it
@ihabunek that just needs curlies
Hint if you want it
@ihabunek remember that they are sorted, so all duplicates are next to each other. Perhaps if you just count the numbers and look for any with a count of 2
@jg that's why there is git
