@icedquinn nah I find a lot of those posts interesting

@trinsec yup lol
not sure what the remaining 1% would be but I'm sure there's something. Salt? :blobcat_sip:

Every time I hear about a particularly stupid belief that's somehow common in the USA I just remember that 80% of americans want mandatory labels on foods containing DNA.

@mgorny mój ulubiony case to Warszawa która ma Główna, Centralna i Śródmieście i weź teraz zgaduj. Bonusowe punkty za to że z tego co kojarzę chcą przywrócić działanie Głównej :D

@mangeurdenuage @rgarner Love how more than half the issues are telling them to get fucked and all of the ones that aren’t are still saying it’s a bad idea lmao

@thor @hermitary the problem of course being that if you ever lose it there's no option to contact the admin and prove its you to restore account, it's gone. Fine for us, not so for people who prefer less responsibility to more security, would need some combination key that can be changed by both the owner and the admin and that means you have to really trust the admin… but that's already true on the fediverse.

@moffintosh @roboneko propaganda is when an authoritarian government tries to twist the truth to look good, like in this case.

@moffintosh @roboneko it's always funny when here in Poland we laugh at how stupid the soviet propaganda trying to dismiss any wrongdoings as "reactionary propaganda" during the soviet bloc times was, meanwhile here in 2023 you are unironically repeating their lies. Wishful thinking is one hell of a drug.

@svmetasearch@pol.social not really, it slides off the tongue pretty well. If it was MetaSearch people would either be saying just "search it" or make up some other slang, the chances of a 3-syllable word being adopted into casual speech are pretty much none.

@svmetasearch@pol.social barely more than one syllable vs 3 syllables with an awkward ending, I'm sure it'll catch on in casual speech

@icedquinn hah I know that feel except I sleep through alarms generally. Currently using an old basic loud as fuck mechanical alarm clock to prevent that.

@icedquinn AFAIK best lengths of time to sleep for are multiples of 1.5h so a 1.5h "nap" would probably be somewhat effective

I saved this a while ago and I still laugh every time I read it. I'm not sure what it is about it, but it's one of those things that are always funny to me. There are only two meme/cartoons that have this effect on me (the other one is Dog Fort)

@sonitus not to mention if it launches a dedicated video hosting service…

@thor @noondlyt yup, I had the same childhood disappointment with that exact box in Poland. It's a Schrödinger's box, contains both cookies and sewing supplies until you open it. Usually collapses into the latter sadly.

I hear the government is doing IoT cybersecurity labels? They're welcome to reuse mine from a while back.

I love how this makes perfect sense as a programmer but would sound horrible to anyone else

People screaming about the Web Environment Integrity proposals are not exaggerating. It's the biggest threat to user freedom I've seen for a long time.

Its proponents state that one goal is to "continue to allow web browsers to browse the Web without attestation" - but this goal is simply not compatible with reality. If they can block non-attested user agents, they will. (remember when they were agents of the user???)

Where could I check if a product respects privacy and preferably also how it appears through the FOSS lens? Not being insane and giving the worst rating because a product contains a binary blob driver would be a nice bonus.
