@hackster_io Better performance usually comes from a lower resolution raw format and an array of similar fast sensors.

It has benefits but 108 megapixels is going to contain a lot of unnecessary information that is going to take up resources to process. I've seen a Maix Stick V outperform a gaming PC because of a poor sensor choice.

I would have begged for something like this sensor when I was involved in that area. It looks very promising as a single unit. Great work on that. This is around 4 times the resolution I needed back then and it was difficult to find capable sensors.

@PawelK The public education system is so bad here that freshman year in college is devoted to catching up to the rest of the world. It's something that English publishers like to point out. Start from the bottom and end up at the top. It's not uncommon to take graduate level courses, graded appropriately, or do undergrad research by Junior or Senior year. It's usually both.

@PawelK Mali was more than reluctant. It was all reverse engineered. There had to be threats or DMCA involved. It didn't stop them from turning trash into something useful.

@PawelK It's public education in the US. We were prepared to learn how to be criminals or join the military. Public schools are K-12 or little kid to old enough to go to prison or enlist in the military.

There's a lot of racism involved and disguised as politics or another pseudoscience. Public education used to be much better but due to new Mathematics and a War on Drugs, parents can't even help their children with homework. The parents don't know how to do it either.

As a Mathematician it infuriates me to see Education as a major and somehow those dipshits get to fuck up generations of students. Learning Science the real way might make some kids cry but they will have learned Science.

Low income is just an excuse. Children in those environments are exposed to nearly anything one could imagine. No amount of money is going to make their home life better and no teaching is going to save them from going to prison or joining the military. Police presence was always an issue and we learned to not talk to them. They are only there to send kids to kid jail.

It wouldn't be fair to call public education a failure because a failure doesn't imply sabotage.

@igelsQTs It just means to slow or delay in English. In the days after leaded gas was phased out, my dad would have to retard the timing on his muscle car. The octane rating wasn't great during those days and it could cause predetonation. He did build the transmission and motor for performance.

There's boost retard too. It's not commonly called that but when positive pressure is made with a supercharger, the ignition is delayed.

It was also used to describe people who were disabled.

@PawelK The Banana Pi was this SBC from somewhere in China and the details of it back in those days were rather fuzzy.

I got an A20 All winner dual core SoC with PMIC, jst battery connector, sata port and a full gigabyte of ram for about twice the price of a Raspberry Pi. It had the newer Arch so I still can use regular Linux on it to this day.

Dealing with it back in 2014? It was a massive disappointment. CHIP hadn't come along with the Mali open source and that wouldn't happen for a while longer. I liked to go with Allwinner chips because I associated them with AXP pmics which would allow one to hook up a 3.7v lion battery and it would manage charge and discharge.

@PawelK I got it for the superior IO. The ability to flash or read chips and debug was fantastic.

@igelsQTs @e That's unfortunate. I always liked the gym bros and the gym. Good times man.

@freemo It was such an unexpected development. The CFCs were amazing in terms of stability, safety and utility. Finally something that isn't going to go boom, not cause severe reactions and be an excellent solvent among other things.

Turns out that UV Radiation made it eat away at the layer in a remarkable way. That's the story I remember. I don't know how much UV radiation that altitude would typically see but the conversion of Oxygen to Ozone requires a fair amount of energy.

This is what most of the anti-science wackadoos dont realize.

@thor A mixed feeling of pride and shame. The US wanted to stay out of wars and over a century later we struggle to stay out of wars. The values we held were replaced with fear mongering.

We made a lot of technological advancements, innovations and systems that can be used for more than war.

We made two different fighter jets in the latest generation before other countries could make one.

The new version of the Abrams Tank is confusing as it's allegedly going to use a Wankel design engine like an RX-7 or RX-8.

It feels like it always has.

Norwegian commandos made sure Germany wouldn't develop a nuclear weapon. So don't underestimate what your country can do.

@thendrix Locally it is about who one knows and the one good thing about the DNC is that they don't have the all or nothing system like the GOP.

Both parties aren't capable of being productive. The only consistent thing they accomplish is squashing other parties. The illusion of choice must be upheld.

Watching American Politics is like that.

@thor LiFePO4 is one of those technologies that should have been used a decade ago. Not the same density but a much longer life span and they can output a lot of power without a chemical fire.

@thor That's very odd. It seems like it might be caused by a similar effect as row hammer. It only takes the right charge to cause a flip.

@thor Medical Grade IT is apparently universal. That's not broken, not yet.

@thor Electric cars are good in theory. I've seen some good conversions that were done back in the 80s to regular vehicles. They managed to get around 60 miles per charge with lead acid batteries and rather primitive technology.

I used to like the idea of EVs but I don't like them now. Something about polluting the environment with heavy metals and using all that energy to make batteries that don't have a long life span or thermal stability. It's disturbing how bad they are and no one cares.

@thor Leaks and poor memory management. Something isn't being handled correctly.

The best remedy is to just reboot. It sounds easy enough to fix but I keep being surprised by how bad code can be.

@thendrix These are Nuwaubian Nation I'm fairly certain. They have the same conspiracy theories as the white devils around them. It's fascinating.
