I really truly think a social media hack is enthusiasm.

People follow me on Twitter who have no career focus on computer security.
I follow farmers on YouTube just talking about their tractor repair tribulations with perseverance.

This is a magic ingredient. You can't really fake it. And people know when they see it. It's one of those inescapably human manifestations the brain recognizes micro-signals from.

Okay! 👏

I want to spend the new few months focusing on building an interactive, open source, browser-based KiCAD file viewer.

I'm looking for sponsorship to make that happen, and I'd love if you'd consider it. Here's a link to the details:

Sharing always appreciated 💜

@BathysphereHat I'm thinking about that myself.

Seems fun so far.

Home safe from Atlanta; weather pushed me back a day but it was a smooth drive home.

Plenty of traffic though; made me wish I was flying a small plane instead.

It's me: I was "some men" and I learned a lot of crap that women aren't impressed with before I figured out what I really needed to have as skills.

Some men learn that women want to "feel safe" around us and take that as "women want a beefy special forces type" and don't realize they just don't want to feel like we might hurt them someday.

There's so much focus on being "manly" in some "not great" ways but that's missing the point.

What they want are signs that we won't eventually become emotionally/financially/physically abusive.

Signs we're emotionally mature and have good communication skills.

Not Rambo.

@tshirtman there are still folks I can learn from there but it's becoming less and less fun there.

Still finding folks here; I am going to try one of the twitter import tools soon to find more of y'all.

one of my favorite things on social media is when people nerd the heck out about hobbies I don't know anything about.

I have a friend on instagram who's super into Breyer horses and like, I know fuck-all about either real horses or plastic ones but she does these explainers about the hobby that are always a delight to read

Post about your hobbies. It's okay to take up space. Delight somebody with details.

As a human rights lawyer who has done extensive immigration work, let me make something absolutely clear.

Asylum is legal immigration.
There's no "port of entry" requirement.
There's no "visa" requirement.
There's no "first country" requirement.
You enter the United States, and you apply for asylum.

Because asylum is legal immigration. Period.

Period.

Breakfast today is a glass of eggnog and some brownies

Food, vegetarian

@joeycastillo that looks delicious.

I did a meatloaf and my brother did mashed potatoes and we're watching anime and enjoying dinner.

Reorganizing my office is slow, because I keep encountering old projects that I want to fix up. These fiber optic hyperbolic paraboloids from two years ago had LED strips secured with duct tape that was starting to peel off, so I printed new covers to replace the tape, and clips to secure them to the frame mechanically. I added the STL files to the project write up which is on my blog: geekmomprojects.com/fiber-opti
