I suppose I should dust this thing off and say something again...soon.

Ignore the country music discourse on "something something small town" and read this essay instead.

It's finally summer weather in the North...early mornings, late sunsets, and more time to get outside whilst avoiding the other people who are getting outside 😂

Saturdays are for staying in, lounging and reading novels, and avoiding the weekend freedumb marches. I’ll ride my bike on Sunday morning when everyone is still sleeping. It’s like 50 going on 15… 🙂

Reading Alice Munro (e.g., Lives of Girls and Women) hits different than in the teens and 20s but feels even more true and more visceral.

She wrote about the lives and experiences that were unseen and undervalued.

A big part of the problem is the aim of science education in the US. We are still operating in a post-Sputnik model, where the aim of science education is to create a cadre of insiders who can form the next scientific workforce upon which our economic, technological, and military strength relies.

We need to teach people enough about how science works that they can see through these conspiracy stories at a glance. That is going to require major changes in how we teach at all levels. Otherwise, our friends, family, and neighbors are easy prey for those who seek to distort and deny science in pursuit of their own selfish agendas.

@dgbassani My view of Dr. Moriarty can be summarized as "where is Tara Moriarty's Order of Canada?"

Still, I'd like to point out that Ontario policy is functioning as intended.

Yes, Ontario is an abject and terrible failure if you're trying to conserve public trust and keep people from dying. Especially in a context of dealing with extremely determined disinformation.

If you're Dougie, someone against the existence of any form of public health, current policy is a win, corpses and all.

How to Do #SEO

The Old Way

* gather a bunch of #keywords of a topic you want to write & see which ones have the highest volume & lowest KD.

* write content w/ the KWs placed throughout the document

The Modern Way

* find out why ppl are looking up this topic

* write w/ the intent of helping ppl to solve their problem

* use a few keywords that are related to the topic

* build a #topiccluster around the problem

KWs are stil limportant, but the intent is more so.

@DrK 100%! I haven't done Zumba, but I used to do other dance classes (back in the Before Times) and always felt rejuvenated and happier after class than when I walked in...it takes too much concentration and coordination to be worrying or thinking about anything else, which is magic 😀

classes should be available on prescription! Don’t think I’ve ever left one not feeling 100 times better than when I walked in! (It should be noted that I’m not terribly good and mostly flail about like someone who’s walked into a cobweb but it’s so much fun!!)🤩🤩

When we wear a mask indoors right now, we can break the transmission chain to babies & toddlers who are flooding our pediatric hospitals. And when others see our masks, it makes it more comfortable for them to mask up, too.

50,000 University of California system academic workers are preparing to strike on Monday, November 14th! They deserve fair work and compensation.

@obi That does make sense, and I appreciate the input and experience. I'm definitely going to be looking at gaming chairs, for many of the same reasons...many hours spent daily at my desk (I work at home for a remote employer) and some growing neck/shoulder pain. Cheers and thank you!
