The R Foundation is now on Mastodon. Follow us for official news about the R Project for Statistical Computing. #rstats
For all the #MedMastodon folks over here, I vote for #MediFedi as a hashtag. We will be embracing those from every instance & the very spirit of this platform. Many of us are not on med-mastodon, but all of us are part of the fediverse! Really want to connect with all medics, Sports Medics, Nurses, ACPs, Pharmacists, Physios, & anyone interested in any medical field. I learned hugely from you over on the bird site! 🙌🏻

Deadline 16 November: #postdoc position for someone interested in #microbiomes and #bioinformatics! Be part of a large team and compare a clinical #IBD cohort with a large general population cohort.
@RadPipW hi! No I haven’t! Thanks for the idea, I’ll look into that! 😃
@NorthernHelen love a smiley dog!! 🐶
A call to arms for more identifiers on #iNaturalist to help ID this amazing #CitizenScience dataset and unleash its full scientific potential

Head of the Department of Biology @koebenhavns_uni in the beautiful capital of Denmark 🇩🇰 is advertised.
My personal preference: Candidates with a background in Genomics. Who would have guessed at @genomics.social. 🧬 Please re-toot!

Academic #publishing would get so much better if #scientists saw #editors as someone to work with than someone to get past (of course, not all scientists do this). I understand why this happens, but it’s a real pity. As an editor, all I want is to work on papers! I love my job! It’s such a joy to get to work with researchers! And yes, sometimes I have to reject papers, for many reasons. It’s not fun; and I don’t enjoy it.

As it turns out, getting repeatedly infected with SARS-COV-2 is bad and you should prevent it https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-022-02051-3
@minimammoth Ahh thank you! She's a good dog! 🐶
After qualifying as a #radiographer I somehow ended up doing an MSc in #bioinformatics and a PhD looking at #microbial communities followed by a job as a bioinformatician in human #genetics. So, it's fair to say my radiography skills are... rusty! However, in Jan I will be moving to a new job focussing on #MedicalImaging research where I will be able to put my rusty radiography skills back into practice!
One of the things I now need to work on is regaining my HCPC registration as a radiographer, which obviously lapsed whilst I was off playing with microbes! To do this I need to complete a portfolio of a few hundred hours worth of study and practical experience. I'm lucky enough to have access to Exeter uni's library and their medical imaging course material but I am also going to be searching out lots of online resources which will hopefully help me refresh my memory of all things medical imaging! As I find them I will share useful resources on here and as I continue to connect with people who have similar interests I hope they might be useful for others too! 😃
To start with, radiopaedia, a great general radiology site with lots of articles and case studies: https://radiopaedia.org/
@rootfs let’s hope it stays this way 😀😀
@rootfs It's amazing how much more people just chat over here even if you're not a blue-tick celeb with thousands of followers! I think I've had more interactions in the last 2 days over here than I have in the last 5 years on Twitter! 😆
@cheribaker yes, taking me a whie to get it too but it definitely has a much nicer feel to it all over here! So much more interaction too, on Twitter I had a lot more followers but no one ever really spoke to me 😆
@cheribaker It really is lovely and calm and welcoming here! 😃
