Meta, question about CW
That's because you are not sending the thumbnail, just the link. The thumbnail is done (or not done) by the server used by the reader of the toot.
And everyone else. But you can remove or change the CW for your reply.
technical point:
Hashtags in the CW phrase are harmless but not searchable. If you want them to be functional, they have to be in the body of the toot.
Took me a minute to adjust to the Mastodon custom of broadly using Content Warning but the software is designed to let everyone customize their experience.
The "CW" option is embedded in the publishing interface, super easy to use.
And if you don't want to keep clicking to expand stuff to read it (I surely don't), you don't have to. Preferences -> Appearance -> Sensitive Content, "Always expand posts marked with content warnings."
@BGrueskin Could you tell me about your cross-posting service please? I use moa.party, and it is okay, but it doesn't have that nifty explicit link (🐦🔗) that yours has.
Thanx!

@tehjessica Also, if you check out an account on from an instance different than yours while on YOUR server, and there are few posts to see, click on their avatar or name to see them on THEIR server.
In most cases, this will work w/o you needing an acct on their server/instance.
Try it with my acct and tell me how it goes.

@robinsonmeyer Definitely post, but decide each time whether to go public or unlisted.
@AndySocial He is definitely "finding out".
@tehjessica That's why, same instance.
I’ve been using Mastodon since Saturday, but I am going out on a limb with a prediction: Mastodon (or the Mastodon model) is the future of social media.
It has the potential of curing the worst evils of social media and creating a genuine and workable public sphere.
I will develop this idea into an essay as soon as I can grab the time, hopefully today.
