I accidentally determined the structure of the boring end of an antibody (first done by Diesenhofer in 1981, I believe).

Cracking Glycan density though. (Yes, I need to model in the Fucose)

@kimura_cl Some people have reported the official App not working nicely with Qoto.

Qoto is running on a modified Mastodon instance with extra features added (check the About page to see more details).

As a result, some apps won't work nicely with Qoto, and most apps are made for default Mastodon meaning you'll lose out on those extra features.

I'd suggest to use the mobile web interface, and just pin the site to your home screen. The web interface is very very mobile friendly.

If you still would like to use an app, people have reported Tusky to be working fine enough with Qoto. The official apps gave quite a few problems as you can see now.

Hi everyone! I am a biophysical chemist working on protein structure, solubility, and refractivity. My group's primary modalities are solid-state and solution NMR, but I just like instruments and will use whatever is needed to get the job done. My group builds our own probes, and I'm currently excited about 3D printing and inexpensive components.

You cannot run an arbitrary search on Mastodon — in plain English: you cannot search for a specific expression in toots

Why? It's because allowing it would open the gate of harassment. It's not a bug, it's a conscious design decision.

How to find content then? Use hashtags instead! Including in your own toots — to make them easily discoverable. You can also browse the local and federated timelines.

Belated introductory thread! 🧵

I’m Andy, and I post about #scicomm, #chemistry and #chemed. But also expect occasional posts about my kids (two boys, aged 3 and 1) and regular supplements of cat photos

My "Hello World" post. Still figuring this place out, I think at first it will probably be a duplicate of my Twitter feed, let's see how things go. If you follow me you will see a lot of #compchem, #proteinevolution, #sciencepolicy, and random #toddlermom / #profmom posts.

#Introduction Hi all I am Elisa Fadda, I use HPC to rebuild the structure of the invisible complex carbohydrates or #glycans in biomolecules (doi.org/10.1016/j.cbpa.2022.10) and to understand their *many* functions in #viralinfection, #hostpathogen interactions, and in biological processes where sugars rule. I am a huge supporter of #openscience and long-time affiliate of #bioRxiv. I like cats and in particular @MULibraryCat 👍 😊 Here promoting #glycotime and happy to rebuild a wonderful community 👋

Getting distracted by rendering proteins in pencil drawing. Just added auto-detection of alpha-helices which update whenever the Calphas move. It's been a blissful coding hole.

I am having a blast reading all the #introduction toots! I am Alice, an assistant professor at UCLA. My lab focuses on a couple different things. We have an interest in protein aggregation in cancer.
We also develop organoid models for rare and ultra-rare tumors, to learn more about their biology and for functional precision medicine applications.

I am an associate professor in #biophysics at #KTH. My lab uses #compchem methods to investigate #membrane #proteins and in particular #ionchannels.

I’m also an editor at #elife and biophysical journal, #openscience advocate.

Originally from 🇫🇷, migrated to 🇺🇸🇨🇭and then 🇸🇪, spending a good deal of time in the 🇬🇧.

Mostly on social media to learn about cool #science and meet fellow humans with common interest. Also interested in environmental, social and political issues.

Hi everyone, I am new here and learning the platform. By way of background, I am a chemical biologist and glycoscientist on the Stanford Chemistry faculty. Known for creating a field called #bioorthogonal chemistry (for which I shared the 2022 NP) and launching biotech companies with new therapeutic and diagnostic platforms, mostly rooted in glycobiology. Passionate about interdisciplinary science, diversity equity and inclusion in STEM, peanut butter, gyms and 70s funk.

Just arrived here, hope the #glycotime community continues to grow!

Trying to figure this site out and find a chemistry teacher network here. Hello world?

We’d definitely recommend everyone includes #Chemistry in their bio here. It’ll help us find you. Of course you can use #RealTimeChem too!

Something that I liked about Twitter was the lack of hierarchy. Hierarchy and elitism are some of the worst aspects of #academia, and social networks provide us with a strategy to break the cycle of privilege that perpetuates inequity. I’m looking forward to seeing how we can do the same on here! #Inclusivity #TwitterMigration
