We've published a lot in eLife in the past. We have found it to be a great venue for many papers.
Now that people have had a month to think about the major changes in eLife's publishing model, I'm curious about how you're thinking about it now.
Do you expect to submit there in future, and if so, what types of papers will you send there?
#Introduction Hi all, I’m a developmental neurobiologist running a lab that uses brain #organoids to uncover mechanisms that make the human brain special. Follow me for interesting papers in this sphere, updates on our research, and fun science things I find along the way!
Dear people interested in #organoids #Tcells #Macrophages #Bcells #DendriticCells #MucosalImmunology #microbiome #OrganOnChip #MicroPhysiologicalSystems #IBD #CeliacDisease #iPSCs,
where are you? I want to follow you!
Best regards,

Hi #ScienceMastodon. We, at #J_Cell_Sci, are a #community journal covering all areas of #cellbiology. We also host the microscopy community site @focalplane_jcs. Journal of Cell Science is led by Editor-in-Chief Michael Way & published by the not-for-profit @Co_Biologists.
We will toot about our content, including #research papers, #reviews, #interviews, charitable activities, and news from @focalplane_jcs.

Very exciting and tremendous step in the field of stem cell transplantation and regenerative medicine:
The first patient treated with its own salivary gland stem cells to regenerate the glands after radiotherapy.

Impossible to make a better presentation on this great paper than first-author Max Grönloh @GronlohMax 👇
Also don't miss the informative Discussion session synthesizing the signaling networks of leukocyte TEM
Congratulations!👏👏👏
Take a look at our recently published story about an unexpected role of B cells delaying intestinal mucosal healing!⏳🩹
A huge collaborative work with Annika Frede, Paulo Czarnewski, @ejvillablanca and many other! 🎉🎉🎉
Hi Mastodon! I'm a journalist at @sciencemagazine, where I delve into stories about the scientific community and the various challenges that come with pursuing a career in science. I'm a former scientist myself—I earned a Ph.D. in ecology and did a stint as a postdoc before realizing that the best career path for me lay elsewhere. Feel free to get in touch if you'd like to introduce yourself or suggest a story idea. #ScienceMastodon #academicchatter
Neutrophils are immune cells that do a lot of traveling (through the blood and into tissues) to get to sites of infection. Their large and stiff nuclei might it difficult for them to navigate through small spaces in tissues. So, how do they do it? Calì, Vargas, Viola, and colleagues showed that the signal that recruits neutrophils to target sites also makes their nuclei pliable so that they can squeeze through the gaps! Check out the study here: https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/scisignal.abk2552 #science #immunology
Here's a terrific new paper from one of my classmates about #ImmuneCheckpointInhibitor induced #myocarditis. This work finds that CD8+ T-cells are the critical mediator of heart inflammation, and identifies the alpha-myosin cardiac protein as a candidate autoantigen: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-022-05432-3 #science #medicine #immunology #cardiology #oncology #Tcell #genomics #scRNAseq
Certified fresh study out from Yvonne Chen's group at UCLA, looking at how minute structural differences in CAR design can play an important effect on long-term CAR-T cell function: https://aacrjournals.org/cancerimmunolres/article-abstract/doi/10.1158/2326-6066.CIR-22-0504/711107/Rational-protein-design-yields-a-CD20-CAR-with
In one set of experiments, they look at how alanine addition to the extracellular part of the CAR, can twist the signaling domains, which apparently allows for better downstream signaling and effect.
Lots of cool stuff here, check it out.

An infection with one respiratory virus makes you less likely to become infected with another. This fascinating phenomenon, called "viral interference," may explain why we rarely see a perfect storm of viral epidemics, @joncohen writes.
(Bonus fact: This is where the name "interferon" came from.)
