When people ask if you drink coffee, that's actually an invitation to go out? Does everyone already know this? Why didn't anyone tell me???
Want to come up for a drink?
Do you like to dance?
Do you eat?
We need to talk.
Work is getting unbearable. (Said to a friend with lots of professional connections)
Well, it's getting late...
@Pat Oh gosh, they're multiplying...
@Kovaelin I'd have taken that question literally...
> No, I don't drink coffee. I prefer tea instead.
Way too many unwritten rules in socializing, it's annoying.
@trinsec I fear my socializing skills have gone quite downhill for quite some time.
@Kovaelin yeah. it's like, why would someone care if you just happened to like coffee? unless they've got coffee bean samples, they're minded to ask you out for coffee (or some similarly low stakes opportunity to chat which you could suggest if you don't do coffee or tea)
@2ck I can't believe it took me so long to see something so obvious. ![]()
@Kovaelin 😆 I've had similar experiences. In my case it was because I just didn't understand that people could be interested in me for my society and good humor. it's not *that* obvious if you're biased similarly, and it's hard to get over that.
@Kovaelin
How is that an invitation to go out?
Maybe if you reply yes, then they'll ask you to get a coffee together; that is an invitation to go out.
