IT (HALLOWED BE HER info technology) amazes me that we can and do, good by people. How does it feel to support and care, to listen to diverse and insightful, talented and sincere people?

The Buddhist circle or sphere of influence, is particular to the three jewels. In the unformed and more realised spheres, the division between a mandala and for example a tariqa is non existent.

Is the Mandala a Hindu teaching?

Teachings associated with Brahmanic religions, use the idea of a wheel to organise realms of thought. In other systems a more hierarchical tree and branch or pyramid structure is used.

Can the mandala be used as a psychological tool?

Any system of division is a memetic way of illustrating opposing or potentially complimentary attributes. Superficial, new age and fad based pop psychology often finds a use amongst the crystals and tibetan singing bowls.

How many teachings are still locked into cultural modes that propagate indoctrination above comprehensive education? A dharma education is still a partial education, allowing a controlled way of thinking, if followed exclusively. Western culture too promotes an increasingly secular, economy driven indoctrination and will therefore produce a unique teaching based on its proclivities.
What is perhaps interesting is wether the evolutionary nature dependent on biology is also capable of transcending or incorporating the biological drives? If so it would mean we can reconcile our Nature and find a higher aspect of being that exists in the transcendent. How will these two exist? Have they always done so?
