I’m not concerned about whether *I* will turn out to vote or whether *I* will vote Biden-Harris. And I’m not worried about the die-hard Biden fans. I’m worried about those who are willing to sit out an election when they are not pleased with either choice. I’m worried about the handful of swing states. 3/

For me, the question of whether Biden should stay in the race is purely instrumental: can he win? This rally is fine but can he appear in public and in private over and over, frequently, and demonstrate cogency and energy? Can he speak extemporaneously with vigor? I don’t know who can answer these questions. So, we are left with a need to see him, often and publicly, and not only in scripted, controlled settings. This has to happen now and quickly. It has been left to awfully late in the day. 1/

Normalize saying “No, I don't want to have a call, but I'm happy to discuss this over email at our respective leisure."

I know it’s trite, but boy oh boy not everything has to be a Zoom or, god forbid, a Teams call.

Before you ask for one, ask yourself: is there anything in the discussion that *requires* it being real-time and blocking off an hour of everyone's day?

This'll ruffle folks that prefer phone calls, I know, but the world contains multitudes.

It is not concerned voters’ fault that the Democratic candidate seemingly might keel over and die at any given moment.

No amount of yelling, dismissing, or gaslighting is going to change that.

We all get the stakes, but no one is addressing the legitimate issues that might lose us the election by failing a threshold competency question for voters.

“Don’t panic” isn’t doing anything when driving full speed at a cliff. The counter-hysteria is just as hysterical.

Friends, let’s have a conversation about internet comments trolls, and how screwed up they really are. You know the type. Fake name, maybe no photo. Goes after women and queer people.

We probably meet them all the time. They’re probably too cowardly to be anything but acceptably polite in real life. They say hi at the store. They think the internet isn’t as real, and like all bullies they hurt people who they see as good victims or that they’re jealous of to feel better about themselves.

But it’s actually scarier. Let’s break that down. They hurt people to feel better. It’s an emotional rise. It feels good,

You know where else we see that? When they catch a mass shooter or serial killer and look back for signs, and then find they liked to torture small animals, or abused their wife, or hurt their siblings. They enjoyed causing hurt. It made them feel better. Then it escalated.

You say this is a logical leap or too extreme. Trolling is harmless. I’m crazy. It’s not you. You’re just having fun. But I gotta tell you, I don’t enjoy causing victims pain. I retired from the military. I hunt, shoot, fight, play video games. That’s still not in me. You might want to talk to someone if that’s you.
