It's insane that needs to generate gigabytes of files to create an empty project, especially when it then can't even open said project.

I really hate this engine.

Hey people: Are nightly reboots a needed thing for Linux Desktop environments? I've got quite a few apps that seem to go wonky if I leave them running all night.

One example is , which I normally consider extremely reliable, taking up nearly 100% of the CPU if I leave it paused overnight. (I've got the flathub version, on 40, if that matters)

I'm not a big photographer, but I try my hand occasionally and this is probably my favorite photo. From a technical standpoint, it's a mess; blurry, noisy, awful.

But it was just the right place at the right time.

We need to normalize calling the section of any "tabloids".

If someone posts the latest political opinion from a big paper, they should get a dozen replies asking them incredulously why they're reading the .

If you share an opinion piece, society should treat you like you just announced that you watch TMZ.

The general sentiment I’ve been hearing anecdotally from Madison people (selection bias likely skews younger and educated) is:

1. This visit did not dispel the idea #Biden is too old and it clearly affects him

2. They would rather eat burning coals than vote for #Trump

3. They are furious at the #Democratic Party for not forcing Biden aside

4. They are worried about turnout from a candidate that doesn’t inspire anyone

I’m not concerned about whether *I* will turn out to vote or whether *I* will vote Biden-Harris. And I’m not worried about the die-hard Biden fans. I’m worried about those who are willing to sit out an election when they are not pleased with either choice. I’m worried about the handful of swing states. 3/

For me, the question of whether Biden should stay in the race is purely instrumental: can he win? This rally is fine but can he appear in public and in private over and over, frequently, and demonstrate cogency and energy? Can he speak extemporaneously with vigor? I don’t know who can answer these questions. So, we are left with a need to see him, often and publicly, and not only in scripted, controlled settings. This has to happen now and quickly. It has been left to awfully late in the day. 1/

It really worries me how many liberals are in the same "nobody sane would vote for Trump" camp that lost us the election in 2016.

Pull your heads out of the sand!

Hey , listen up, this is important.

If you create an "endless scroll" UI for content that is not endless, and you don't include "jump to top/bottom" buttons, you're going immediately to hell after you die.

This is an easy sin to avoid. Fix your shit.

Boy, the way Mastodon is reacting, you'd think they'd never heard of a double-standard before in their lives.

Normalize saying “No, I don't want to have a call, but I'm happy to discuss this over email at our respective leisure."

I know it’s trite, but boy oh boy not everything has to be a Zoom or, god forbid, a Teams call.

Before you ask for one, ask yourself: is there anything in the discussion that *requires* it being real-time and blocking off an hour of everyone's day?

This'll ruffle folks that prefer phone calls, I know, but the world contains multitudes.

🧵 maybe, I don't know.

It is not concerned voters’ fault that the Democratic candidate seemingly might keel over and die at any given moment.

No amount of yelling, dismissing, or gaslighting is going to change that.

We all get the stakes, but no one is addressing the legitimate issues that might lose us the election by failing a threshold competency question for voters.

“Don’t panic” isn’t doing anything when driving full speed at a cliff. The counter-hysteria is just as hysterical.

Spoilers for S1E1 of #Foundation

Okay, so I just started watching , and I have some questions...

1) How the hell did the empire not detect the explosives used to destroy the star bridge? More importantly, if they were unable to detect these explosives, how has this not happened sooner?

2) When the star bridge collapsed, they said it "wrapped around the planet like a garrote cutting through 50 levels", killing 100 million. Earth has one level, and a structure like that collapsing and wrapping around our planet like a garrote would easily kill more than 100 million. How was the casualty count that low for a planet so densely-populated that it needs 50+ surface levels?

I thought the same thing... until this statement was issued. Now I have to wonder.
