@arraybolt3 I used Linux as my daily driver for over 10 years. When I bought a new desktop computer it came with Windows, so I figured I'd give it an honest try again.

It's worked great. I don't miss the days of programs 90% working, or having to edit config files to get my monitor to stop flickering, or trying to play Rocksmith only to find the peripheral cable won't work in Linux.

It was the steady stream of small issues that beat me down. Windows has been plug-and-play.

Wait, Adobe offers a software to automatically rig and animate 3D human models and it's *free* with no strings attached?

WTF?

If we live in a good place, with opportunities and prosperity, we should invite other people to join us and share in those opportunities and prosperity.

At minimum, we should not prohibit others from moving for a better life for them and their family.

Amazing new images of the moon Io have come down from the Juno spacecraft! This one shows the volcanic moon of Jupiter from only 2,800 kilometers away, which is the closest look we’ve gotten of Io since the Galileo orbiter over 20 years ago. Check out all those volcanoes!!!!

Just heard one on the radio where a "teen" said something to the effect of "maybe adults actually do know more than us and we should listen to them".

Wow, modern anti-vaping ads have serious "hello fellow kids" vibes.

I made nachos for dinner, but I used no meat and lots of lettuce and tomato, so I'm counting it as a salad.

"The allure of looms entices those people who fetishize fine textiles but dismiss the work. They're the people who tell knitters, "I'll give you the pattern, then you knit it, and we'll split the profits." For them, the vision is everything and the work is just an annoying obstacle. But the WORK is everything. The work is how a thing happens, where it's made, where skill is put to work. Looms in textiles are for the people who have no skill, no work, no effort, no ethic. They just want to push a flying shuttle."

I've been seeing this doing the rounds lately...

I imagine this is very similar to what the monks who spent their entire lives carefully hand-copying bibles felt about the printing press in the 1400s.

Much smarter version of what I've been saying the last couple days:

I've seen some people argue that the NYT's new lawsuit against OpenAI/Microsoft is the strongest such lawsuit yet, but... I don't think so. I also ...

What do you think the odds are that the NYT will employ ChatGPT to write articles within the next two years?

I had several British people request I use "aluminium" instead of "aluminum" for yesterday's comic, so here you go.
