And we've come full political circle
RT @joelpollak
Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who rigged the Democratic Party primary so only Hillary Clinton could win, and was forced to resign because of it, is questioning Michael Cohen, who is going to federal prison for lying, about whether Trump rigged the election. You can't make this up! 🤣

Senate Democrats Block Bill to Stop Infanticide
@freemo That article continues on to say that it was moved half way through the work to continue on the other half. The "mooning the pope" I wonder about. Seems suspect that it was meant to be so offensive yet nobody noticed it for centuries, and it is in a gigantic painting with tons of nudity. Was it just part of the art or was it trolling? Important mystery we may never know the answer to.
@freemo
Not an expert, did find this: "Contrary to myth, Michelangelo did not paint on his back, but on a platform of his own devising that extended over half the area of the chapel and allowed him to stand upright."
Headline after headline drive a narrative, what we all think we know about what's happening in our own country or another is usually just the Avaliably Heuristic of what we recall from headlines.
Inventing claims discredit real issues. Telling fantasy stories about how evil The Other is like this actor has done isn't fighting against hate. It is hate and it stokes hate.
Sadly many in the major media outlets and in politics are happy to stoke hate like this a people divided is easier to gain power over.

'Never Trump' leader says final blow to movement may be far-left move by Democrats

@albert I suppose in either case it's shorthand.
America is not a continent, there's "North America" and "South America," "The Americas" for both, I suppose...though that seems odd. The country isn't America but "The United States of America".
I suppose American could mean "Anyone from the two distinct but connected continents." but that doesn't seem terribly specific as a descriptor of someone.
It could also probably mean a descendent of Vespucci. :)
@jeremiah @AtlasFreeman it feels odd that I really like that analogy.
When Trump devotees told me he was like King David, I found him to be more like Rahab (of Jericho). If he's the right person for the job, he's not someone I'd have a reason to expect it from.
Nation's Liberals Devastated After Learning Hate Crime Didn't Actually Happen
Is it still parody if life imitates the Art?

Wish I could follow the Bee on the fediverse. From the article :
"After some deep breathing exercises, Booker spoke with reporters. “How are we supposed to intentionally turn the nation against each other and exploit these divisions for political power if people won’t commit a simple hate crime once in a while?”
Candlelight vigils are being arranged in liberal cities across the country as millions mourn the loss of one of the most potentially divisive crimes in the last decade. “
@AtlasFreeman ifttt looks like it has toot-to-tweet but not the reverse
@arteteco I've been using Poscast Addict for a few years now, haven't looked at alternatives in a while. It seems to have all the same features that reviewers like in podcast addict, and I haven't had any issues at all with playback it finding new podcasts or anything.
I'm interested in being just not civil, but excellent in interacting with others of different viewpoints in an online world where we can so viciously defend our echo chambers and be so dismissive of other perspectives.
Because this is less and less possible here, I'm largely offline and am not sure if I'll be returning. It was fun back when civility was a trend on qoto.
