“The hungry can't eat your tears. The poor can't spend them. They're no comfort to the afflicted and they don't bring the wicked to justice. Everything useful that can be done in the world can be done in joy.”

@SecondJon Aww thanks you've been a pleasure to have and no one has ever reported you, which is impressive in the fediverse. So you're doing something right.

Its funny the second a new member comes around (as I'm dealing with this now) who is even remotely right leaning, or even just criticizes the left from time to time, they get blasted with reports about being alt-right this or that, usually on the most respectful and innocuous comments.. There are so many instances that probably ban for that that it comes across as effective. We have our rules for a reason, to protect respectful but unpopular opinions.

Wow. Two years here on , nearly 2k toots. Always happy to be here @freemo and grateful for this place.

I remember when I decided to try mastodon and signed up on more than one instance to find the rules written in a way that could be used to easily target users restrictively and found users very unfriendly and rude to others with the slightest difference of opinion. Not on qoto. Thanks to everyone here for making this a good place to be.

I wasn't sure how to vote. But then Hot Pockets went on a presidential quality tweet insult rage and now the choice is clear. History will show that an emotional outburst against his own fans is what turned the 2020 election.

Maybe if he had more kids he'd learn better self control and better online etiquette.

@hogihung
A few quotes from this that I appreciate :

"Now, to be fair, what we still don’t know is what percentage of people who have died with covid in 2020 would otherwise be alive if this virus had never existed."

"(Although this raises an interesting question, if covid was the tipping point illness for many very sick people with multiple co-morbidities, wouldn’t the number of elderly people dying in later months this year and next year likely be lower than normal? Because those very ill people had their deaths accelerated by a few months due to covid? That seems likely to me.)"

@realcaseyrollins
I've seen those and appreciate them. There was someone else also a year ago with dark hair and beard and glasses if I remember correctly.

It's always great to see and motivating. My struggle is balancing lack of sleep and too much to do (work and I have a half dozen young kids) and wanting to get up early to run. Something has to give.

@PhoneBoy
Hey, that's great, we'll done! Is there an app you're using that's tracking total miles for the year and these images?

Your Coronavirus Test Is Positive. Maybe It Shouldn’t Be.

In three sets of testing data that include cycle thresholds, compiled by officials in Massachusetts, New York and Nevada, up to 90 percent of people testing positive carried barely any virus, a review by The Times found.

On Thursday, the United States recorded 45,604 new coronavirus cases, according to a database maintained by The Times. If the rates of contagiousness in Massachusetts and New York were to apply nationwide, then perhaps only 4,500 of those people may actually need to isolate and submit to contact tracing.

I am using subway toooter right now, as I can't find a way to quote on Fedilab or Husky. It's not as user friendly but seems to have more options. Not fully used to it yet.

I've been for 1 year. 1,147 miles run. Looking at the numbers for the first time... I averaged over 3.14 miles every single day!? Wow.

I ran 13.5 this morning, thinking this would be my last run of my first year, but according to my logs, it's actually the first run of year 2.

Here's to a better year, with more miles. And hopefully the 2021 marathon won't be canceled, and I'll run my first.

Someone out there that I follow used to post end-of-run selfies on the fediverse, and that was part of my motivation. Thanks.... Whoever you are.

Going forward it would be useful to debunk the largely unchallenged premise that it should be as easy for people to vote as possible. twitter.com/michaelmalice/stat

This one is a reply. The others being quotes, don't show as related at all, and no notifications to the original poster, I think, when someone replies by quoting. Hmm.

Ah. Buried in a menu... But also here on replying, has a Use "Quote Toot" checkbox when replying. I guess my question is....is this a reply or an unrelated toot that uses the quote tag?
