I agree with Linus both on the matter and on the tone BUT

- he is not a physician: technically speaking his words on the topic should be taken as those of the random guy on the street¹
- he called "idiotic" someone he doesn't agree with: how will the Linux Foundation TAB react to this?

AFAIK they should punish him for being unwelcoming, but he is also right and they do not want to be associated with anti-vax.

¹ indeed he also said something most family physicians who actually work with people in their territory would not agree with: the drop in the deaths rate from covid right now is largely due to the summer not the vaccines, in the winter we will see if it worked for real (as I think and hope)

To downstream #GCC users, this move open to the sort of legal litigations that affect the #Linux kernel (usually settled out of court, for money).

But what I love about it is the double-thinking of the supporters that few weeks ago were crying about the lack of transparency in #FSF gevernment.

This change has been announced by the Steering Committee to the GCC community without discussion.
A Steering Committe in the hands of few USA corporations.

But it's all fine, isn't it?

Obietterei solo che se Montesquieu avesse avuto un'idea della diffusione capillare degli automatismi informatici e del loro impatto sulla società cibernetica, li avrebbe definiti come un potere distinto, totalmente indipendente dagli altri e con libertà e vincoli distinti.

Sarebbe stata una soluzione settecentesca ad un problema contemporaneo, ovvero largamente subottimale in un contesto in cui il potere economico e quello informatico controllano individui e politici.

Ma pur sempre meglio di niente.

L'informatica è come la stampa: senza un forte e solido pluralismo è pericolosissima.

I'm old, boring and out of touch with contemporary music but my daughters are going crazy for a young French singer, #ErzaMuqoli: can anybody suggest me similar artists (in genre and age) so that I can help them to expand their playlist (they do not and will not use #Spotify as their father hates surveillance capitalism and prefer human suggestion systems, aka friends and #fediverse).

Any language is welcome (English included) but I'd prefer to expose them to less mainstream (aka non-US) perspectives.

Any suggestion?
