Too perfect not to reshare.

@AthenasWrench @TranimeGirl There are dozens and dozens of sci-fi novels that agree with you.

@AthenasWrench @TranimeGirl They are similar things, but I wouldn't say it is semantics. They really are two wholly different schools of thought regarding human beings and how to improve them.

It would be safe to say, though, that they fall under the same philosophic umbrella.

@AthenasWrench @TranimeGirl not quite, Eugenics would be more like selectively breeding human beings and removing 'undesirable' elements from the gene pool.

Transhumanism, however, deals more with science and technology. Gene editing might fall into this category, but so do things like bionic eyes. It's not, specifically, creating a master race or anything like that.

@alex @freemo There are a few who are pushing the line, for sure. The way I like to put it is that you can say whatever you want but the way you say it is *very* important.

It's not what you say, it's how you say it. :) I'll let Freemo get to you, though. He's got experience in this regard.

@AthenasWrench @TranimeGirl I don't think we can assume that Epstine's views on anything were shall we say pure or innocent.

Transhumanism in and of itself is not negative. But, there are ethical and moral questions to be answered.

Some of them are easy- is it wrong or unethical to give a blind person sight? Probably not. Is it wrong or unethical to help a person walk again after losing limbs? Not at all.

And, for people like Tranime, it might be a real boon to their health and mental well being. Being able to literally change your biological sex from Male to Female or Female to Male with all that entails may well be a cure for that particular dysphoria, and really, it wouldn't hurt anyone at all.

But then you see things like this, and you come up to questions that start raising ethical issues. Is what this person doing mutilation? Is it just body modification? Where does one's right to do what they want to their body end and the ethics of making something wholly inhuman begin?

@PollyLeritae@spinster.xyz @cm My thing is I'm starting to grow upset with the Israeli government and how they're doing things and I *can't* go back to the USa because I need medications to survive.

@TranimeGirl @AthenasWrench Although, I was more making a joke. <_< I am very silly and often make jokes I perhaps shouldn't.

@TranimeGirl @AthenasWrench It is a belief that one can evolve beyond human limitations through science and technology.

So, in a sense, being able to literally be both genders would be a transhumanistic idea.

@AthenasWrench @TranimeGirl Well. It's out there, that's for sure. I'm really more confused than disgusted, but that comes from a background of having seen a lot of truly fucked up shit humans do to one another and themselves already.

@AthenasWrench @TranimeGirl I'm not entirely sure why I did it, but I went to the twitter account and looked at the uncensored photos.

I'm not sure it was a good idea.

@iankenway DOing my best to get Bibi out of power. VOting is all I can do! D:

@cm Naw, I'm not religious. Won't be the first time I've dealt with antisemitism, either. Grew up in the South in the USA, so. More of the same.

@Surasanji there are supposedly a lot of young Israelis in Berlin working for startups (at least I did read a news headline to that effect some time ago).

Contact the local jewish orgs, perhaps (e.g. ikg-wien.at/?lang=en for Vienna) to get an overview, and the relevant embassies for all your bureaucratic needs?

Feel free to DM me with you skills/line of work and I can at least give you a rough idea whether there's jobs to be found.

@cm Well, I'm not sure I'd call myself a 'young israeli'. I'm US born, emigrated to get healthcare and found some zionism along the way. :P I have no problem letting the world know my skills.

I've worked primarily in English speaking customer service positions, typically management, and for the last 10 years or so entirely on the internet. Chat/Phone/Email. I have worked as a corrections officer. I've worked in manufacturing (Ie: Industrial) assembling nuclear fuel assemblies. I worked in marketing, online casinos, all sorts of that stuff.
