Hi, I'm Kate, currently a postdoc in Roland Fleming's lab in Giessen. Starting my own lab at the University of Auckland at the end of this year!*
I'm interested in perception, and especially how brains come to understand the world through their tangles of sensory streams, none of which provide "ground truth". Mostly taking unsupervised deep learning approaches to vision.
*Mastodon exclusive, haven't got around to announcing on Twitter yet 😅
Belated #introduction: I am interested in open-endedness and reinforcement learning research. I'm an Associate Professor at the UCL Centre for AI where I am a PI for the UCL DARK (https://dark.cs.ucl.ac.uk/) lab with @egrefen (some of our students are here as well @LauraRuis @minqijiang @mika) and collaborate closely with @jnf. At DeepMind, I am leading the Open Endedness Team (follow @jparkerholder).
Here's my intro:
-> I'm a Research Scientist at DeepMind (for ~ 7 yrs)
-> I have BS and Masters in (pure) Maths, Masters in Psychology and PhD in CS
-> Our team researches systems that jointly learn language while acting and perceiving
-> We get interested when language interacts with 'general' (non-lang) intelligence
-> I lived in LatAm for a couple of yrs
-> I can run, but not as fast as I used to
-> If you know more about football than me, I'd like to meet you
-> Ditto 80s music
I'm a 3rd-year PhD student at UCL DARK & Meta AI (FAIR) advised by @rockt.
My research focuses on building agents robust to different environments and others within them. My interests lie within the intersection of multi-agent RL & open-endedness.
I had the great fortune to work with @rockt @jnf @egrefen @minqijiang @jparkerholder @nantas @timrudner @bam4d @akbir and many others who are yet to move here :)
I’m a father to a 3-year-old future scientist (no pressure) #PhDParent
#introduction time!
I am a #social systems biologist.
I study how #evolution created #sociallife.
I study #ants and ant colonies as a model for #development.
I study the evolution and impact of socially transferred materials (e.g. milk, eggs, seminal fluid).
I lead the Lab of Social Fluids at University of Fribourg.
I am also the founder of The Catalyst, a science entertainment collective.
I am passionate about #scicomm, #genderequality, and making #academia a better place.
Hello world, again! Since introductions are a thing...
I'm Oliver - I do computer vision and robotics for agriculture, 3D reconstruction and recognition of plant structure.
Also generally computer graphics in general, functional programming.
Also rock climbing, biking and running depending on what I'm into at any point in time.
Hi! I am a CS PhD student at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. I am broadly interested in learning based #robotics to solve problems in #agriculture.
Currently I am working on vision-based navigation of under-canopy agricultural robots (https://ansivakumar.github.io/learned-visual-navigation/). These small robots could enable various precision agriculture applications like autonomous cover crop planting, mechanical weeding etc in an affordable way.
Hello! By way of an #introduction, I am
* a married Dad of two amazing young kids;
* an academic in Oxford, still going on the same problems that I did not solve during my PhD—Gaussian processes, Bayesian optimisation, Bayesian quadrature, Probabilistic Numerics (check out our book: https://probabilistic-numerics.org/textbooks);
* a co-founder of https://www.mindfoundry.ai;
* concerned with topics related to disability and chronic illness, after getting Long Covid (now recovered);
* in general, fairly weird.
introduction 👋
I'm a data scientist and machine learning engineer specialised in #geospatial analyses and ML. My interests include: #datascience #machinelearning #modelling #dataengineering #programming
Living in Málaga, working remotely for an agency in Madrid trekking, mountaineering, guitar, writing, coffee
@dmikeando Wow! That's exactly what I'll be working on! Let's keep in touch, and excited to see more of your research as well! 😀
@kristinmbranson Yes! You're one of the first I followed here! 😀
@iansimpson Thank you! Followed, and looking forward to your awesome research! 😀
Oh hey… adding some hashtags to my timeline. My interests as a dull list: #chemistry #bioinformatics #ai #ml #Proteindesign #biologics #epidemiology #immunology #aviation #stem #proteinstructure #biomanufacturing #software #chemometrics #stemjobs #drugdiscovery #drugmanufacturing
I'm a grad student at UW[1] David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science, working on #bioinformatics #MassSpectrometry. Having a dog (yes, that's my avatar).
I'm a #Firefox user since 3.0, and a #Fedora user since 2012.
I had been participating is #competitiveProgramming since high school. It's fun even if I had never been in Div 1 :(. I'm maintaining https://github.com/Endle/rust-bundler-cp to use #rustlang on codeforces.com

My late #introduction
Hello, I’m new to the QOTO and the Fediverse and want to introduce myself.
I’m currently making a career transition to software engineering. I have worked in Python a little bit in the past year and am currently starting to use C. My interest/area of work is #embedded #softwareEngineering although I’m very new to it and software engineering in general. I am going back to school to get an Associates in Computer Engineering to hopefully fill in some gaps that I have.
Outside of work I am slowly working on a #mud using the #evennia framework in Python. I also enjoy spending time with my kids by going on walks around town. My oldest son just started cubscouts and I am glad he is enjoying camping because it’s something I have always enjoyed too!
I’m looking forward to connecting with other people here and on other Mastodon servers too.
I'm one of the many recent bird migrators 😂. I'm a professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Georgia. My research is modeling and analysis of infectious diseases. More at the links in my profile. I hope this whole Mastodon experiment works out!
Hello folks! I prepared a #github repository of #deeplearning in #bioimageanalysis resources. Feel free to go through it, and please star it if you found it useful! 😊
