Not *my* favorite setting of Adam Lay yBounden but well done.

Ok, this boy reading Genesis is doing better than 90% of the adults who read in most churches most Sundays. And he is reading from King James on top of it.

"And let us hold in our heart all those who, even as we gather here, endure the depredations and travails of war"

Ok so the Perfect Pitch Brigade are telling me that OIRDC was pitched down a half step. I can't tell.

And the chorister makes it through the solo of Once in Royal David's City.

Ok I've got the BBC up but what they are playing in the previous hour sounds like a dental drill in a war zone :(

@w7voa Boy I'd love to hear the airing of grievances on that flight.

What do you call a Linux user who doesn't use a GUI? #joke

A terminal hipster.

“We do not protest the war on Gaza because we have an abstract right to do so; we protest it because it is one of the great moral atrocities of our lifetimes and because the widespread refusal to admit this in America is an atrocity in its own right.” nymag.com/intelligencer/articl

By 2030 it will take more than a day for communications from Voyager 2 to reach Earth. At its current speed it is gaining a light day every 27 years or so. It will take about 10,000 years for it to travel a single light year from earth. The nearest stars are six times as far.

NSFVoyager2
I am currently 18h 50m 57s of light travel time from Earth (2023:355:000000:1L)

I bought an expensive #EV in 2018. At the time, I calculated it would have taken almost 15 years to recoup the price differential to a similar #ICE (gas) #vehicle.

Days away from my car's 5th birthday, I ran the calculation again. Inflation adjusted (in all ways), I am only one year away from recouping that cost diff.

$35 a month in electricity to run my car. $18,000 saved in gas and maintenance in 6 years.

That is wild.

@nicholas_saunders @1dalm Nope, I'm right there with you. Every decent story will have some truly abhorrent characters and many will have characters with questionable moral values. It seems that there are some people who will project their own ideas of who is being targeted by the alleged allegory, and they are rarely ever as right as they feel.

Since I seem to be into quoting famous fiction this evening (PST) "Persons attempting to find a motive in this narrative will be prosecuted; persons attempting to find a moral in it will be banished; persons attempting to find a plot in it will be shot.
BY ORDER OF THE AUTHOR" - Mark Twain

@1dalm

"What a lot of things you do use Good [day] for!" said Gandalf. "Now you mean that you want to get rid of me, and that it won't be good till I move off.”

@nicholas_saunders

I am gong to start a :

Ignore the [Dry Turkey Squad](fda.gov/food) and keep breast meat just under 160 F. to do this you will need to pull that bird at no hotter than 155. It will bounce at least 5 degrees. Let the Turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving and serving.

The worst thing you can do is trust that stupid pop out thermometer many turkeys come with. It is "set for 175 because it has an accuracy of +/- 10 degrees and it cannot ever go off lower than 165 (see aforementioned Dry Turkey Squad).

Finally cook your Turkey "upside down" with the Legs and thighs facing the top of the oven. Thigh meat will still be juicy at 170 and doesn't suffer as much from the high thermal radiation from the top of the oven. If presentation is critical turn it over for the last 15 minutes and coat liberally with butter to get the skin to brown.

@Wolven So help me out here. A [group of disability rights advocates](washingtongroup-disability.com) including many people with actual disabilities developed a more nuanced set of questions that align with how disability is surveyed internationally, and that is bad because a simplistic summary of the data would show fewer people in an already poorly defined "disabled" categorization? Why is it not better to have better, more detailed, more comparable data and make the conversation about how we address the challenges that this data will show?

@cazabon @erinwhalen But there will be Hydrogen there to save the day. Isn't that right @Hypx ? I mean sure we've gotten electricity just about everywhere and can't even get Hydrogen to the LA basin consistently, but I'm sure it will make it to the far reaches of Canada in a decade, yes?

I want to find some sort of a passive dashboard i can keep up in the office 24/7 but not otherwise use the display. Something that displays email notifications, calander, tasks, todo, weather, pretty much all the sorts of stuff someone might want to keep on display.

Anyone have any suggestions on a good software or app or even hardware to do this?

@KimPerales The obvious solution to this is to end selective service requirements. Would also address the gender discrimination inherent in that system. If there are not enough volunteers to fight your petty overseas war than it is not worth fighting.

@GottaLaff That IDF has rules of engagement besides "Revenge!! Kill the all!!" is new to me.
