@hankg wait 90 seconds for the poll of mission managment

@karanslade Listening to comments by [Eric Berger][1]. He pointed out that #SLS was designed to be nearly impossible to cancel politically. Former NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine spent years studying why space missions were cancelled and designed a program to return to the moon with a focus on making it as politically painful as possible to cancel. The pull quite:
> The best thing about SLS it that it will never be cancelled. The worst thing about SLS is that it will never be cancelled.
Ok #Episcopal peeps if someone were to start up an (unofficial) Mastodon server specially for Episcopalian 1) would you consider migrating to it? 2) what would you want its content moderation to be?
I own a relatively small telescope, with 300-m focal length, only. For many objects this is too short. On the other hand, it allows me to take some nice wide-angle #AstroPhotography shots.
For example, I can image the Cygnus Loop in one go. Here is a preliminary result, using a dual-narrowband filter (H-alpha, OIII), with only basic processing applied. The Moon was too bright to also take an RGB image, so the star colors are wrong. Need to invest more time...
@taz @kthoward I wonder about "informed." The goal of a representative democracy is that we elect a group of people who will dedicate their professional lives to being informed. In the ideal we should elect honest, dedicated and moral people who know how law works and can do the thorough investigation that I cannot.
The unfortunate reality is that US politics has devolved into party platforms. We will elect incompetent jerks because they promise to vote the way our team votes. (looks longingly at my ranked choice voting soapbox)
As an example, I was asked to vote on a proposition about how Dialysis clinics are run. If the pandemic has taught me anything it is that I am not a medical expert. Even if I were to spend hours researching the issue, I would not be as competent to make the call as the state medical board who already decided that the proposed change was not necessary.
@Spinybadger So tell the world. Esp with gaming sometimes we just don't have a spare 1000 hours to invest in a game when it comes out, and even the people who have played it for years enjoy seeing the excitement of people experiencing the game for the first time.
BTW: My brother who was born 30 years after the Beatles broke up became a huge fan after discovering them in his college music composition class.
@louiscouture Well, so much for that idea. I haven't seen a new system since 2018.
The most annoying thing with #firefox is when you restart it and it shows you a bunch of "Use Mozilla VPN" or "Try the new Tab thing" bullshit!
