"Our findings suggest that a low education is a risk factor for adult mortality, after controlling for age, sex, and marital status. We find that, on average, an adult with 12 years of schooling has a 24·5% (95% UI 23·0–26·1) lower risk of mortality compared with an adult with no schooling, with an average reduction in mortality risk of 1·9% (1·8–2·0) per year of schooling.
